The MYVN RISQ (Risk, Independence, Solution, and Quality) team in Malaysia collaborates closely with the broader RISQ team, fostering strong ties through frequent communication and collaboration on RISQ-related matters. Our main functions are to effectively manage and mitigate regulatory, independence, and reputational risk to protect the firm's brand and value. This is achieved through the development, dissemination, and monitoring of policies, procedures, and programs.

As an Experienced Associate in the Independence Office, you will support the independence-related processes and ensure compliance with relevant regulations. You will work closely with various teams to aid and foster an environment of integrity and accountability. Your role will also involve supporting the practice in promoting and embedding a strong quality culture within the professional services our firm offers, considering the regulated business environment in which we operate.

Role specific responsibilities

Support & Assistance: Assist in the daily operations of the independence office, supporting independence professionals in handling complex independence matters. 

Regulatory Compliance: Help ensure compliance with applicable independence standards and regulations. Stay informed about changes in regulatory requirements and assist in updating procedures as needed. 

Policy Implementation: Support the implementation of independence policies and procedures. Collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure these policies are understood and consistently applied. 

Issue Resolution: Assist in addressing and resolving independence-related issues and queries from engagement teams. Support in providing analysis and recommendations to mitigate risks. 

Training & Development: Participate in the development and delivery of training programs to enhance awareness and understanding of independence requirements across the firm. 

Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other departments to integrate independence considerations into broader business processes and initiatives. 

Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate records and assist in preparing reports on independence activities, ensuring transparency and accountability. 

Continuous Improvement: Support continuous improvement initiatives and identify areas for enhancement.

Minimum years experience required

Degree in a relevant field such as Accounting, Law, Business or a related discipline. 

Relevant experience or internship in a compliance or regulatory role within a professional services environment is a plus. 

Strong organisational skills with attention to detail. 

Good analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. 

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. 

Proficient with digital tools like MS Office suite and capable of preparing presentations. 

Team player with a proactive attitude towards learning and continuous development.
