Reporting to the Manager Software Engineering, the experienced front-end Software Engineer will reinforce the Shared UX team for the Esko S2 Platform and will be located in Gent (Hybrid: 2 days at our office and 3 days WFH).

The Esko S2 Platform is a powerful web-based platform for managing packaging. Brand owners and packaging professionals work together to specify, design and execute for high-quality and on-time delivery of packaging.

Your challenge

As a Front End Engineer in the Shared UX team, you will collaborate with UX Engineers and a Product Owner to build and maintain shared component libraries. You will coach and support other teams in adopting cutting-edge front-end technologies. Your responsibilities will include creating specifications, architectural designs, writing code, and managing CI/CD processes for shared libraries. You should have a keen eye for creating attractive and user-friendly experiences and stay updated with the latest technologies to deliver exceptional developer Experience.

In this role, a typical day will look like:

Develop and maintain robust libraries, ensuring they meet all functional and non-functional requirements.Stay current with software technology, tools, and related products, and exchange technical information with colleagues.Innovate and develop new UX/UI concepts collaborativelyEnhance the Developer Experience for internal users of the shared libraries.

The essential requirements of the job include:

You are highly interested in front-end technologies like React, TypeScript, Vite.js, Rollup, Webpack, NPM, Yarn, CI/CD etc. and are willing to stay up to date with this fast-changing landscape.You have strong analytical skills, a good focus on quality, and want to produce clean code and architectures.You work well together with other developers, testers, support people and management, helping everybody to excel in their specializations.You love experimenting with new technologies and concepts, bring them forward to the team, and deploy and teach them, while having respect for adoption difficulties and proposed alternatives.Bachelor or master’s degree in computer science, informatics or similar or can prove comparable skills through experience.Solid knowledge of modern web development with HTML, CSS, modern JavaScript technologies (TypeScript, React, Rollup, …).Experience in working with open source (or shared) libraries is a plusProficient in spoken and written English. Any other language is appreciated.
