Experienced Manager, Complex Securities Valuation

Job Summary:

The Manager, Valuation & Capital Markets Analytics  – Complex Financial Instruments is responsible for leading, executing and delivery of challenging valuation engagements by participating in all aspects of projects, from the initial proposal preparation through project completion.   This role is actively engaged in the management of valuation assignments and managing staff in the development of such assignments. In addition, the Valuation & Capital Markets Analytics Manager will be charged with assisting with business development activities and appraisal reviews. 


Job Duties:

Manages the valuation services related to a variety of complex financial instruments for financial reporting, tax, and other business purposes Oversees client engagement from beginning to end, including but not limited to, project set up and other administrative items, manages associates and senior associates, communications, and presentations with the client.     Works with mathematical and statistical financial models for valuations of multiple asset classes including complex securities, options, derivatives, and credit instruments, including, but are not limited to, Monte Carlo simulations and Lattice Models   Works with valuing structured products such as collateralized debt obligations including building cash flow waterfalls and experience with the use of industry data bases  Critically reviews model functionality, evaluates, and documents the methodology employed, assumptions used, and conclusions reached Ensures quality controls are adhered to in association with all work products  Participates in internal and external client meetings  Assists and provides guidance to peers and staff members in the development of project plans and timelines for deliverables  Other duties as required

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervises associates and senior associates, as needed


Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree, required Focus in Accounting, Finance, Financial Engineering, Actuarial Science, Risk Management, Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, or Economics, preferred Master’s in Business Administration (MBA), Financial Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or other relevant field preferred

Experience:

Five (5) or more years of experience within accounting firm, independent advisory firm, bank or other financial services firm, preferred Experience with valuation of complex financial instruments (complex securities) or derivatives, required Experience in financial reporting valuation and appraisal review, required Experience in business valuation and intangible assets, preferred

License/Certifications:

CPA, CFA, AM, ASA or other valuation industry credentials, preferred 

Software:

Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, PowerPoint and Word, required Prior experience with Capital IQ and Bloomberg, preferred Prior experience with Intex, Moody’s Analytics, Crystal Ball, R, Python, and other industry software, preferred

Superior verbal and written communication skills Superior analytical and research skills  Solid organizational skills especially ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on details Ability to successfully multi-task while working independently or within a group environment Proven ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously  Capable of effectively managing a team of valuation professionals and delegating work assignments as needed Capacity to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and client personnel  Ability to encourage team environment on engagements and contribute to the professional development of assigned personnel Executive presence and ability to act as primary contact on assigned engagements Ability to successfully interact with professionals at all levels Ability for intermittent travel within the US and internationally required

 

Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.

California Range: $140,000 - $175,000
Colorado Range: $140,000 - $175,000
Illinois Range: $140,000 - $175,000
Maryland Range: $140,000 - $175,000
Minnesota Range: $140,000 - $175,000
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $140,000 - $175,000
Washington Range: $140,000 - $175,000
Washington DC Range: $140,000 - $175,000
