Position Summary

To work directly with the Terrain Park Grooming Supervisor, Terrain Park Manager, and Terrain Park Day Crew Supervisor to develop and maintain Woodward Mt Bachelors terrain parks.  You will help implement strategies within the terrain park that will maximize efficiency and encourage continuous improvement to terrain park construction, maintenance, and its employee’s growth. 

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities 

Be able to groom an entire terrain park from start to finish  

Be able to easily understand grooming patterns for different park layouts and features. 

Be able to shape, reset, or dig out terrain park features efficiently with all types of snow  

Understand specific building concepts  

Be able to complete a large amount of work in an 8-hour shift. 

Be able to build a wide variety of terrain park features from a blank canvas such as but not limited to: Small/ Medium parks. (Start Park, Progression Park 1, 2, and 3, Otter Rock, and Shortsands. Both jumps and jib features. 

Able to properly maintain a park without it needing to be rebuilt or reset by other operators. 

Can rebuild all size rail take offs. 

Have mastered the building and maintenance of all small and medium parks. 

Builders are expected to know how to set various features by hand or alone with a snowcat. 

Builders are expected to have mastered the controls of various models of Pistenbully and Prinoth park cats. 

Builders are expected to know how to remove various implements that a cat may use for terrain park construction and maintenance. Including the blade, the tiller, and the Zaugg. 

Be able to carry diverse types of terrain park features on blade. (boxes, rails, walls, signs, shacks) 

Be able to pick up, reset, operate, and lay out snowmaking guns and hoses 

Understand general grooming machine maintenance (oil, hydro fluid, coolant, tracks, belts, fuses, wipers, hoses) 

Able to fix and rebuild hydraulic hoses. 

Basic knowledge of how to run a winch cat. 

Able to assist in doze projects requiring a winch. 

Shows basic Zaugg knowledge. 

Beginner level Zaugg practices required. 

Responsible for making sure grooming logs are filled out and dated at the end of each shift. 

Able to handle larger workload than level 1 operator. 

Advanced perception and skill set with snow cat blade and tiller functions. 

Maintain 100hrs of training time with lower-level operators. 

Maintain 100hrs of training with higher level operators. 

Job Scope

The job operates within the established parameters.  The terrain park groomer is accountable for their on-hill actions, including the safe build and grooming of terrain park features on a nightly basis, and for the safe operation of the snow cat.    

Interpersonal Contacts

Converses daily on park matters with ski patrol, park manager, park grooming staff, and grooming staff. Shows strong time management skills and communicates in advance on timelines. 

Specific Job Skills

License/Certifications: Current and valid Driver’s License 

Technical: Be able to build, groom, maintain all terrain park features in all types of snow, understand the difference between bad and good jump to landing transition….safe and unsafe features  

Physical Capabilities: Advanced Skiing or snowboarding ability, Ability to lift 50 pounds 

Education/Related Experience 

Minimum education required: High School or equivalent 

Minimum time in related position: 3 to 4 seasons of terrain park snow cat operations expert cat skill level 

Current Hiring Rate: $28/Hour

Minimum Age Requirement: 18
