We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate, experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our animal care team. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our veterinarians in the delivery of high-quality medical services. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in veterinary terminology and animal husbandry, with a keen understanding of animal physiology and pet care.
Duties
- Assist veterinarians with medical procedures, including animal catheterization, dog training, and kennel management.
- Provide excellent pet grooming services, including bathing, trimming, and styling.
- Administer medications, take vital signs, and perform laboratory tests as directed.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for animals, including the handling of medical supplies and equipment.
- Participate in animal restraint and assist with the handling of animals during medical procedures.
- Support our veterinarians in the care of animals with medical conditions, including those in veterinary critical care.
- Collaborate with our animal care team to provide a comprehensive care experience for pets and their owners.
- Perform routine tasks, such as cleaning and disinfecting, and restocking supplies.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of patient care and treatment.
Skills
- Strong understanding of veterinary terminology and animal husbandry practices.
- Familiarity with animal physiology and pet care principles.
- Experience with animal catheterization and dog training.
- Ability to lift and handle animals safely.
- Knowledge of laboratory procedures and the ability to perform laboratory tests.
- Experience working in a kennel environment.
- Proficiency in pet grooming techniques and practices.
