ABOUT STUDENT LIFE
The Student Life Team (SLT) oversees the growth and development of students outside the classroom. Student Life staff members work within and across teams focused on residential life and Minerva community development, civic engagement and cultural immersion, wellbeing and professional development of students in preparation for post-graduation employment or graduate and professional school. These teams are unified by a shared goal of supporting opportunities for integrated learning for our diverse and global student community.
EXPERIENTIAL EDUCATION MANAGERRESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Tokyo City Director, the Experiential Education Manager (EEM) will be an integral member of the Student Life Team, with duties to support all activities in the city and provide students with a holistic semester. The Experiential Education Manager will also design and facilitate educational experiences and large-scale cultural events. The successful candidate has extensive network and local partner contacts. The candidate will embrace the opportunity to work with young adults from more than 65 different countries, and is eager and excited to work in a fast-paced and changeable working environment.
This role requires evening and weekend work. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Japan.
As part of the Student Life Team at Minerva, the Experiential Education Manager is responsible for:
EXPERIENCE DESIGN AND FACILITATION
Facilitate experiential programs with external partners and local professionals in the city; plan in collaboration with Coaching and Talent Development (CTD) and Academics; execute with the support of the entire in-city Student Life TeamDraft and share communications to students through established Minerva platforms such as the Community PortalScope, plan and execute large and small scale events and activities, including Orientation, Feasts, Friendsgiving and end of semester eventsSpeak confidently in public contexts, and be prepared to lead a program for 200+ students
STUDENT LIFE TEAM MEMBER
Organize and participate in city preparation and management, including roommate assignments, policy violation and misconduct investigation, crisis management, opening and closing the rotation city, plus check-in and check-out dutiesContribute to and serve on the Community Care Initiative (CCI), a committee across departments that convenes weekly to discuss students of concernHold the city’s Emergency Phone on a rotational basis with the other team members, across the whole semester, during which the on-duty employee may not leave the rotation cityAttend regular staff meetings as requiredComplete special projects and tasks as assigned
