Job Summary:
The primary role of a Composite Technician is to efficiently and accurately, fabricate and assemble composite parts needed to support Product Development programs. These details would be primarily fabricated from either prepreg or hand layup process using either carbon fiber or fiberglass materials. The candidate must be well versed in the use of tools such as sanders, grinders, drills, heat guns, and other simple hand tools. The execution of these parts and assemblies may come from mental concepts, verbal instructions, hand sketch drawings, or blueprints. Candidates filling this role must excel in a highly diverse team environment as well as be proficient enough to work independently and able to troubleshoot when problems arise.

Essential Duties:
Ability to layup, bond, and assemble composite parts using a variety of mediums including prepreg / hand layup, carbon fiber/fiberglass, and various adhesives. Proficient in the use of specifications, drawings and verbal instructions to build and fabricate composite parts and bonded assemblies. Strong creative mind that excels at solving problems and can successfully collaborate with a wide audience during the development of new technologies and designs. A solid understanding on how to fabricate and apply a wide variety of temporary tools including composite layup and metal fixtures needed to support the builds. Uses specifications, drawings, and verbal instructions to layout a fabrication plan and determine sequence of operations prior to building the end product. Tests prototype components and models under simulated operating conditions for such purposes as development, standardization, and feasibility of design. A general understanding of small airplane architecture including airframe, powerplant, and electrical systems.
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or GED required. A two-year associates degree Composites Technology is preferred but not required.
Certificates or Licensures:
No licenses are required for this position. Other industry certificates considered a plus including Airframe & Powerplant certificate or ASE Automotive
Computer Skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is a must. Knowledge of CAD software (PTC Creo) is preferred.
