Expressive Arts Therapist

Position Summary: Develops, coordinates, and adjusts individual and group expressive therapy programs and plans based on the clinical, behavioral, and sensory needs of each participant. Maintains accurate documentation of patient progress in accordance with all regulatory and payer requirements. Manages the purchasing and maintenance of art supplies. 


Critical Tasks: 

Develops, implements, evaluates, and revises expressive arts therapy treatment plans for an assigned group of patients by conducting individual assessment.Coordinates with treatment providers to ensure all treatment programs and activities address changing patient needs.Educates and supports patients’ families and advocates regarding patients’ rights and preferences.Acts as a liaison and consults with community agencies and patients’ families to coordinate treatment processes.Maintains timely and accurate documentations of patient assessment, treatment plans, and progress in accordance with regulatory and payer requirements.Collaborates with other team members in Child and Family Team and Adult Recovery Team meetings to achieve patient treatment goals.Facilitates mediations as needed to resolve client conflict in groups. Coordinates with Finance and Office Coordinator to make purchases of art supplies and equipment and reports the need for repairs as appropriate.Performs other job-related activities as requested.

Required Qualifications: 

Master's degree in Social Work or Counseling Psychology with an emphasis on Expressive Arts required.1 year previous experience in Expressive Art Therapy required. 3+ years experience in Expressive Art Therapy preferred.Previous experience with mental health or substance abuse populations preferred.Proficiency in at least one (1) expressive arts therapy modality.Current and valid license approved by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners.Current and valid cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification or ability to obtain the certification within 30 days of hire.Current and valid State of Arizona Department of Public Safety Fingerprint Clearance card. Current and valid State of Arizona driver's license.
