Job Description
The Extension Agent, under general supervision, implements, plans, and evaluates educational programs and activities in assigned program areas; Supports and assists in the implementation of educational programs and activities in program areas for which other staff members have assigned leadership responsibilities. The position will support Montgomery County.
This position is funded by a grant or restricted funds. Continued employment is contingent on the renewal of grant or restricted funding.
Responsibilities:
+ Implement and support educational programs addressing critical issues and emerging needs in Montgomery county; recruit, train, and guide local volunteer leaders; and collaborate with Extension-sponsored groups like 4-H and community-based organizations to strengthen programs.
+ Plan and develop comprehensive educational programs in collaboration with committees, task forces, and other organizations; coordinate and evaluate program outcomes and outputs to address base programs, critical issues, and clientele needs.
+ Maintain effective communication with Prairie View A&M University staff and local stakeholders; prepare reports and conduct interpretation events to highlight program outcomes and accomplishments to elected officials.
+ Develop and pursue long-term professional improvement plans; participate in training and staff meetings to enhance skills, promote teamwork, and ensure compliance with EEO and Civil Rights policies while performing supervisory responsibilities as needed.
+ Participates and assists in college-wide events, activities, and committees and performs other duties as deemed necessary.
Required Education and Experience:
+ Bachelor’s degree.
+ No prior experience required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
+ Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with youth groups.
+ Technical knowledge in civic engagement, youth leadership, college preparation, STEM, and/or healthy living and the ability to apply this knowledge to the solution of problems.
+ Knowledge of technology, tools, and strategies to effectively conduct and market educational programs.
+ Ability to reside in the county, have access to a personal vehicle, obtain or maintain a valid Texas Driver’s License, appropriate insurance coverage, and travel connected with official duties (including attendance at meetings or events that may take place during the night, weekend, or out-of-county). Travel allowance is provided.
+ Ability to function with minimum supervision and respond positively to policy, administration, and supervision.
+ Ability to cope with change.
+ Ability to work with and through others is essential.
Other Requirements:
+ This position is temporarily remote until office space has been located in the assigned county.
