Main Responsibilities
The responsibility includes ensuring proper processes are in place to protect Unilever Indonesia’s freedom to operate (FTO), managing partnerships with government, external stakeholders, and civil society. Reporting directly to the Corporate/External Affairs Manager, the person works closely with colleagues in other functions, regional and global teams, to align and ensure a coordinated strategy.
Support for development and execution of government affairs strategy, stakeholder engagement, corporate reputation, issue & crisis management, to ensure no disruption to business by protecting freedom to operate (FTO)
Coordinate the mapping and management of key FTO issues in partnership with the Supply Chain, Marketing, Sustainability, and Regulatory Affairs functions, and help implement mitigation or improvement strategies
Monitor the policy and political environment for salient and emerging issues (deforestation, plastic waste, renewable energy, halal, tax, supply chain, etc) and timely and regularly inform the leadership team and respective Board Members
Identify opportunities and threats in the legislative process to advance or defend identified Unilever Indonesia's policy objectives
Manage governmental affairs at National and Regional level, including preparing high-level bilateral meetings for Head of Country
Support the business savings agenda along with other related functions, especially those related to government’s incentives
Provide internal consulting on compliance and government regulations to local and global business partners
Support local site teams to ensure local business continuity issues, and community relations are well managed
Represent Unilever Indonesia and related business identities, with external stakeholders and regulator, including active engagement in trade associations to create a better business climate for Unilever Indonesia. Unilever Indonesia is actively involved in 14 trade associations and business coalitions
Work in partnership with NGOs and academia to develop collaborative programs on critical business, social and environmental issues
Enhance visibility and reputation of Unilever Indonesia with all relevant stakeholders and position Unilever as leader in future fit and sustainable business.
Candidate Criteria
Experience & Qualification
3+ years’ experience working in multinational organizations or consultancy, dealing with senior internal and external stakeholders is preffered
Understanding of the governmental and Indonesia political landscape. Previous experience working with Government agencies
Knowledge of consumers good industry, health, or environment policy issues
Existing network of Government/regulatory/academic stakeholders in the Ministers of Environment and/or Agriculture, Health, Coordinating Investment Board, Industry, and Trade
Experience running successful policy campaigns and project management
An advanced degree in a relevant discipline (Communications, Political Science, International Relations, Law and Business Administration)
