We are seeking an experienced External Communications professional to develop and implement high-impact communication strategies that engage external stakeholders, build brand awareness, and enhance the organization’s reputation. The ideal candidate should have a strong track record in media relations and in social media strategy and content development, preferably within the life sciences industry. This role will report to the Director of Corporate Communications and work closely with our Investor Relations and Customer Experience teams, as well as with marketing leads from across the business.
Responsibilities:
Develop external communications plans, key messages and materials.
Develop, implement, and manage corporate social media strategy and channels.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including creative, division/brand and HR teams to create and publish regular, engaging social media content.
Day-to-day management of corporate social media channels including publishing and scheduling posts.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including investor relations, to build and implement media relations strategy, and act as key media contact for global media.
Produce or review external communications deliverables including but not limited to media releases, reactive statements, Q&As, speeches and executive briefings.
Manage media events.
Manage review process for external content, ensuring that content aligns with appropriate legal, ethical and industry standards.
Track and report external communication metrics on a monthly/quarterly basis and use data and insights to continually adjust and optimize content and strategy.
Implement and manage media monitoring and social listening platforms and process.
Manage updates to external corporate communications materials and messaging, including but not limited to company boilerplate, company presentation, company websites.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in marketing, journalism, communications, or a related field
5+ years of experience in media relations, journalism or related field
Strong writing, editing, proof-reading and verbal communication skills with exceptional attention to detail
Proven success in delivering high-impact media relations and social media strategies
Experience with media monitoring platforms and with social media management tools and analytics platforms
Ability to work independently, prioritize and manage multiple projects and campaigns simultaneously
Experience with issues and crisis management is preferred
Experience in life sciences, pharmaceutical, medical device or related industries is preferred
