Job Description
This role sits within our Global Communications team and will lead media relations for our public safety technologies, from 9-1-1 software to land mobile radios. The position will champion the development of media strategies and media materials for product announcements and tradeshows, and lead internal story-mining to identify compelling product narratives. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a history of strong journalist relationships and secured media placements, as well as a knack for translating technical content into clear storylines. The position reports to the head of Public Safety Communications and will serve as a key work partner to the public safety product and product marketing teams.
Scope of Responsibilities:
Serve as a strategic business partner and communications counselor to product and product marketing leaders and teams as well as government affairs, legal, and others responsible for safeguarding corporate reputation
Navigate the business to craft compelling product narratives and external storylines on new technologies and features
Write well-crafted, concise, and highly engaging pitches, press releases, and other public-facing materials.
Maintain media and analyst relationships; Pitch national, top-tier local, tech, and key trade media
Lead analyst relations and inquiries related to our public safety technologies
Develop and execute communications strategies at and around priority North American public safety trade shows
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree
6+ years of communications, PR, media, and/or journalism experience preferred
Strategic thinker who can build a network, gather information, and translate complexity into clear, concise content and media strategies that drive awareness and action
Outstanding storyteller with impeccable writing, editing, and proofreading skills
Savvy media strategist with a track record of engaging and sustaining relationships with top-tier, trade, and local reporters
Detailed project manager who can lead complex workstreams with cross-functional contributors, meet tight deadlines, and easily adjust as circumstances change
Exhibits a polished executive presence with strong judgment and the ability to exert influence in navigating all levels of the organization
Ability to work well under pressure to meet tight timelines
Highly self-motivated and results driven
Target Base Salary Range: $72,700 - $145,400 USD
