External Communications Specialist (Social Media/Writer)
We’re seeking a versatile business writer and social-media specialist to help us develop a compelling business story and promote it externally. This talented storyteller will help develop content for our UL.com News, working with business units, corporate functions and other communications team members to discover the most compelling stories and determine the best way to tell them, including video, blogs, news stories and … insert your ideas here! The successful candidate will also lead the Communications team’s presence on UL Solutions social media channels, in collaboration with our digital team, guiding on best practices for organic content, scheduling and posting, and measuring impact. This role requires a mix of journalistic, corporate and creative storytelling skills, as well as a strong background in organic social media. This role is hybrid on-site (3) days a week at our Northbrook or Chicago, IL office In the run of an average week, this individual contributor is likely to dedicate time as follows: + Developing social media strategy for organic posts and posts available for employees to share, including working with team on creating posts, posting per best practices, collaborating with digital team and measuring impact to be able to adapt and improve. (30%) + Developing story angles and drafting content for UL.com News and other pages/ sites as needed, to drive measurable reputational benefit. (40%) + Posting on UL.com News, leveraging SEO. (10%) + Creating metrics (Ul.com News, IR site) to measure and help adapt strategy for maximum benefit. (10%) + Other activities as assigned. (10%) #LI-Hybrid + BS/BA degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related field, plus 3 years of related experience. + Exceptional writing and editing skills. + Proven experience translating complex ideas and technological/scientific concepts into meaningful, relatable communications. + Experience working on organic social media strategy and content. + Comfortable with Communications technology, such as posting on websites, using SEO, using social media apps such as Sprinklr. + Experience working in global communications for a complex, matrixed organization across regions is preferred. + Experience working for a publicly traded company in an external communications or social media role is preferred. + Experience working in a B2B environment a plus. Total Rewards: We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. The estimated salary range for this position is $56,400 to $75,200 and is based on multiple factors, including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, as well as other factors. This position is eligible for annual bonus compensation with a target payout of 10% of the base salary. This position also provides health benefits such as medical, dental and vision; wellness benefits such as mental and financial health; and retirement savings (401K) commensurate with the standard rewards offered in each individual location or country.
