External Manufacturing (EM) Sourcing Manager

Position Description:

Reporting to EM Sourcing Lead for India, the candidate shall lead sourcing and procurement activities for Active Ingredient and Advanced Raw Materials in country. The candidate shall be responsible for supplier identification, execute sourcing strategies, supplier development and negotiate competitive terms and conditions, supporting the Global Category Lead – External Manufacturing with the execution of manufacturing service agreements.

In addition, candidate is also responsible to implement supplier relationship management, nurturing suppliers into strategic partners, seeking opportunities to reduce cost through better supplier negotiation, process improvements, or alternative sourcing options.

Successful candidate requires a robust knowledge in contract manufacturing and sourcing of agro/specialty chemicals, as well as having a good understanding of India contract manufacturing organizations (CMO) capabilities operating in the agro/specialty industry. Candidate must possess strong analytical skills for evaluating supplier performance, costs and market conditions, excellent negotiation skills, and managing the execution of contracts.

He/she shall have strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with suppliers and stakeholders, as well as the ability to quickly address any issues that may arise in supply chain, or changes in the industry standards/regulations impacting supply reliability. The ability to apply best sourcing practices such as “should cost” modelling and understanding of contract law and regulatory aspects of India are desirable.

Primary Responsibilities:

Develop competitive sourcing strategies to meet business requirements, saving targets and working capital improvement  Evaluate and identify suitable suppliers to participate in RFQ, develop supplier evaluation matrix criteria and conduct supplier assessments.  Finalize supplier selection with business alignment, using purchasing matrix and financial modelling to support your selection.Negotiate to finalize the terms and conditions of Manufacturing Service Agreement (MSA)  Drive internal cost and sourcing execution approval to put in place MSA with suppliers, using internal six steps sourcing process and stage gate review approval processMaintain supplier Industry knowledge and Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) and drive supplier improvement projects.  

Additional Responsibilities:

Work collaboratively with global sourcing colleagues to share best practices and procurement process improvements.Support the collection of market intelligence data on India supplier's landscape.  Support Category Spend Management and stakeholders to drive project execution, preparation of spend analysis reports, and work on supply chain improvement projects.Work jointly with transactional buyers on P2P solutions using ERP software. 

Position Requirements (Competency/Experiences)

Education background - Minimum bachelor’s degree, major in chemical engineering or chemistryExperience - Minimum five years or more of sourcing experience preferably in the agro/specialty industry and ability to travel as needed, visiting suppliers to conduct suppliers’ assessment and negotiation.Strong analytical and negotiation skillsBasic financial analysis and management costs accounting skills    Ability to work effectively in a cross functional/business environment. With good interpersonal and influencing skills  Exhibits high business ethics and principle based behaviorA team player with ability to communicate across all levels, energetic, enthusiastic.
