What You'll Do:
As an Extrusion Technician, you will produce medical grade tubing in a safe and proper manner working with our extrusion equipment in our clean room.
What We're Looking For:
Work Safely with Hot Plastic, Plastics Machinery and Automation. Express safety ideas, thoughts, and concerns verbally or in a written form. Adhere to all cGMP /GDP Standards, Procedures and Work Instructions. Collect Product - By spool, rack, table length or bagging product if cut in line Properly clean, set up, assemble and clean out work areas. Restock supplies for next shift. Communicate information to next technician taking over line at shift change effectively Complete basic line clearance with no support (no functional testing) in addition to maintaining paperwork correctly throughout run (extrusion run sheet, checklist, in-process inspection sheet, and clock paperwork) Verify and confirm all routers and work order instructions before and during production, maintain all paperwork properly (with support of QC -Supervisor) Run material moisture test as required. Support and observe 5S and other lean manufacturing methodologies. Use SMED pre-assemblies. Use of basic hand tools, power tools, plastics equipment tools and supplies. Set up single lumen/single layer extrusion jobs, verifying correct inspection method, tool and dies are used per the work order and customer drawing with support from a others on our team. Set up Zumbach system for measuring the extrusion profile as produced. Debugging and modifying of process as required with support from others on our team. Cut and measure product on MicroVu system Use pin gauges, snap gauges, or other tools for measuring product Document process parameters. Extrusion of tubing to desired specifications to expected schedule. Remove material from a dryer after production run completed, clean dryer and weigh / document material. Work ethically and respects those around them to create a positive, supportive working environment. Observe and promote Company standards and policies on safety, quality and productivity Work on our 2nd shift, from 2:00pm to 10:30pm.
Skills That Make a Difference:
Successful completion of high school, GED or equivalent work experience. 1+ years’ experience as an operator, or manufacturing associate. Basic knowledge of plastics and plastic manufacturing. Ability to follow written instructions. Mechanical, machine operating or extrusion experience is a plus. Specific experience with Zumbach and Davis Standard equipment is a plus.

Light with frequently lifting up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds. Exposure to lifting more than 50 pounds is rare (if ever). During Extrusion Technician work, employee will constantly be exposed to dynamic standing/walking and use of hands to finger/handle or touch. The employee will occasionally be exposed static standing/sitting, to pushing/pulling (up to 25 lbs of force), floor to knuckle lift/lower (up to 25lbs), knuckle to shoulder lift/lower (up to 25 lbs), shoulder to overhead lift/lower, climb/balance (on stairs/ladder), stoop, kneel, crouch/crawl, reach above shoulders and repetitive bending or squatting with rare (if ever) exposure to sustained bending or use foot/feet to operate machine. The following vision requirements apply: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee will constantly be exposed to working near moving mechanical parts with occasional exposure to working in high/precarious places (ladder), fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock. The employee will rarely (if ever) be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and outdoor weather conditions, extreme cold or heat (non-weather), wet/humid non-weather conditions or travel on company business. The noise level is considered moderate (business office with computer printers/light traffic). The noise level is considered loud (normal shop floor conditions while machines are in operation). The employee will be required to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment such as: safety glasses in the designated areas, hairnet/beardnet and jumpsuit when on the production floor, gloves when handling hot objects or solvents, earplugs when required and steel toed shoes (preferred).Ready for your next career step?
