Management of risk is fundamental to the successful delivery of EY Ireland [EYI or the Firm] services to our clients and the maintenance of our reputation. EYI’s Risk Management team is a “Second Line of Defence” function.
The opportunity
A vacancy has arisen at Senior Associate, Level 2. This is a key role, being part of the team supporting the EYI Chief Risk Officer (CRO), the EYI Risk Management Director and management. Key activities include the implementation of the firm’s Risk Framework and strategy in addition to the annual identification and assessment of key service line risks and the evaluation of existing or required controls. This role will support the work of the Risk Management team to ensure that EYI has in place embedded risk management controls which are trained and communicated to our people thus ensuring they understand their obligations. The role holder will support EYI Risk Management engagement with EYI Service Lines (SL) during key risk discussions. The EYI Risk Management Senior Associate will play a vital role supporting departmental oversight assessment of first line key risks. Activities may include oversight monitoring and or testing to determine if in-place controls are effective and operating as designed across EYI’s SLs.
Your key responsibilities
Supporting the design, development, implementation and roll out of new and enhanced risk
management processes. Engagement may be undertaken across a combination of local, UK, Regional or Global levels. Supporting EYI’s CRO, Risk Management Director and management with a range of risk activities. The firm has in place a range of service arrangements with EYUK RM. Consequently, the role holder will have regular engagement with stakeholders from across EYUK RM, EYG RM, EY SLs, external industry bodies as required or deemed appropriate. The successful candidate will play a key role supporting updates to the EYG enterprise risk (global)
system, Archer in addition to supporting a range of risk-based administrative and reporting activities via Word, Excel or PowerPoint on team. The successful candidate will also support the regular collation of MI and paper-based risk reporting to EYI’s leadership. The candidate will play a key supportive role on the EYI Risk Management team using Microsoft Excel, analysing data and conducting ad-hoc analyses on risks, controls and working with RM leadership, SL and Firm leadership in consideration of key risks and assessing their effectiveness and embeddedness across the Firm. The role holder will support the ongoing maintenance of the EYI Risk Framework at the firm ensuring appropriate and up-to-date risk management control documentation materials are always in place. The role may require you to support oversight risk monitoring and testing of key SL controls to determine if the said controls remain effective, embedded and operating as designed. You may also be involved in facilitating risk management SL engagements. Generating initial drafts of narrative on risks and controls for line management review. The role holder will play a supportive role in developing risk-based communication and training material for the business in addition to navigating how to utilise global collateral where appropriate. Establishing productive working relationships with the wider Risk Management Teams across the UK and globally in addition to fostering strong professional SL stakeholder relationships. Housekeeping of all EYI risk related file directories ensuring key documents are appropriately organised and controlled.
To qualify for the role you must have
Experience in analysis and production of reporting, ideally within a risk, finance or equivalent role. Understand risk frameworks, risk functions and the role of an organisational risk function or the ability to pick this up quickly. Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills – you must be comfortable at manipulating and presenting high volumes of data using Pivot tables and generate MI Dashboards. Strong ability in PowerPoint to present slide output of a high standard. High attention to detail to ensure risk reporting is accurate and well presented. Strong day to day organisation skills - maintaining timetables for your own work and the work of the wider EYI Risk Management team.
Ideal skills
Strong communication skills, capable of dealing with a wide range of people and stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions. Planning and organisational skills to create implementation approaches and plans including supporting prioritising key areas of responsibility, tasks and projects. Process mapping skills in Microsoft Visio, PowerPoint or similar.
