Job Summary:

This position is for a Principal Engineer, Systems Requirements & Integration engineering professional. Requirements Integration is an exciting discipline that covers a broad range of responsibilities.

Pratt & Whitney F135 Engine Design & Systems Integration Team is looking for a System Requirements Engineer for the design, development, and certification of the F135 Engine Core Upgrade (ECU). The Requirements Engineer is responsible for all aspects of integration with the technical teams for requirements analysis & definition, and system verification & validation. System Requirements integrates the propulsion system design across the engine: systems, and modules; as well as engineering disciplines, module technical teams, and the external customer; and provides support throughout the complete engine product life cycle.

Selected candidate will work directly with our internal and external customer and will gain knowledge of engine operation and air vehicle operation; and have opportunities to experience engine and flight testing.

Process and manage incoming and outgoing propulsion system requirements. Analyze, decompose, validate, and document all relevant functional requirements.

Execute requirements content development & release with internal and external customers and develop critical integration milestones and handoffs.

Execute and coordinate airworthiness, verification and validation plans for propulsion system requirements and integrity plan (PSIP)

Conduct or participate in, as necessary, requirements integration: EDSIT, SIPT, CCB, TSIT and CIPT meetings. Coordinate and prepare for propulsion system Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs), and Design Reviews, as required.

Identify, assess, and communicate system-level functional risks, and develop mitigation plans and execute burndowns of those risks. Assess customer impact of open issues.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with attention to detail, deadlines, and reporting.

Qualifications You Must Have:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Aerospace, Science, or Math and minimum 8+ years of experience in mechanical design, development, and/or test, preferably of defense-related components or systems. Or a master’s degree in a related field and minimum 3+ years of experience.

The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer:

8+ years’ experience with engine systems, airframe development, electrical and mechanical packaging for military aircraft, or similar applications

8+ years’ experience with thermal and structural analyses, or with analysts to specify requirements and design to environment.

8+ years’ experience with effective communication (written and verbal) during collaboration with others to document design actions and results, to perform trade studies, and to communicate to program management and customers through presentations and reports.

Experience with DOORS, Teamcenter, SAP, MS Project, Jira, Github, ZenHub, Dassian, Primavera.

Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering and Model Based Design. Knowledge of Root Cause Corrective Action and Continuous Improvement principles and tools (i.e., LEAN, CORE, ACE, or Six-Sigma).

8+ years’ experience working on Agile teams with familiarity with Scrum and Agile project management methodologies.

Active DoD security clearance.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
