Position Purpose:
The Aircraft Technician I, under close supervision, performs or assists with the inspection, maintenance, and repair of basic aircraft systems and structures. This role supports more experienced technicians and works within established guidelines to ensure aircraft are maintained to the highest standards of safety and quality. The technician will also assist with aircraft movement and handle customer property as needed.
Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED required. Valid Driver’s License required. FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certificate or at least 2 years of aviation maintenance experience required. Working knowledge of FAA regulations, process specifications, Repair Station and Quality Control manuals, and company policies and procedures is required.
Essential Functions: Work Communication & Assignment Understanding: Communicate clearly with supervisors, team leads, and other staff to receive and understand work assignments. Perform basic aircraft inspections, repairs, and modifications under close supervision, ensuring all work adheres to required standards. Documentation & Paperwork: Accurately complete CMP cards, work order sign-offs, and other paperwork related to maintenance tasks in a timely and correct manner, ensuring proper documentation of completed work. Quality Assurance: Ensure all tasks and maintenance activities are completed to meet required quality standards and specifications, ensuring safe and reliable aircraft systems. Customer Property Handling: Properly identify and tag customer property and equipment. Store aircraft components and other customer property securely and safely to prevent damage or loss. Ground Support Equipment Operation: Follow standard operating procedures when using ground support equipment such as external power carts, hydraulic power units, hydraulic lift platforms, forklifts, and compressed gas cylinders. Customer Property Protection: Ensure the protection of all customer property throughout the maintenance process, taking care to handle components and equipment with the utmost care. Additional Functions: Material Tracking & Work Orders: Utilize the material tracking system to create parts demand, track squawks, and charge labor to work orders, ensuring efficient workflow and documentation. Waste Disposal & Shop Cleanliness: Properly collect and dispose of waste materials such as fuel, oil, hydraulic fluids, de-icing fluids, and solvent rags in compliance with environmental and company regulations. Apply 6S (workplace organization) and Lean initiatives to maintain clean, organized, and safe workspaces in shops, hangars, and aircraft work areas. Tool & Equipment Maintenance: Properly use and maintain company-provided tools and equipment, ensuring they are kept in good working condition. Return tools to designated storage areas after use. Safety Compliance: Comply with all safety rules and procedures, utilizing protective equipment as required. Remain alert to unsafe conditions and immediately address or report them to prevent potential risks to people or property. Aircraft Certification & Testing: May participate in aircraft certification and final phase testing, which could include flight tests on aircraft as required. Other Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisors or managers to ensure the smooth operation of aircraft maintenance activities. Other Requirements: Knowledge of FAA Regulations: Working knowledge of FAA regulations, process specifications, Repair Station and Quality Control manuals, and company policies and procedures, ensuring adherence to all standards. Physical Requirements: Ability to work in confined spaces, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 pounds as necessary. Must be able to work in various environmental conditions, including outdoor work and exposure to noise and chemicals.
Work Environment: The position requires working in aircraft hangars, maintenance areas, and on ramps, with exposure to varying temperatures, environmental conditions, and potential noise. Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be used in accordance with safety guidelines.
Pay Details: $25.66 per hour
