Fabric Research & Development Manager
Description We are on the lookout for a Fabric Research & Development Manager to become a member of our squad in Culver City, California. The chosen individual will be fundamental to our inventive tactics, fabricating textiles in line with our eco-conscious and performance objectives. This position entails team collaboration and working with different suppliers, crucial for making our products stand out in the marketplace. Tasks: • Stay informed about sector trends, technological progress, and new material developments to synchronize with our innovation plans. • Carry out market studies and competitive assessments to pinpoint opportunities for unique product features and inventiveness. • Support and put into action ecologically mindful fabric resolutions. • Offer specialized proficiency and assistance to the business, suppliers, and merchandisers while remaining current with sector developments, regulatory norms, and fresh tech. • Cooperate with Operations to rationalize procedures and formulate Standard Operating Procedures enhancing supply chain productivity. • Utilize expert understanding in raw material scrutiny and exposition, guaranteeing fabric development is in sync with product requirements and schedules. • Formulate and supervise material norms and testing procedures in alliance with the Product Integrity crew. • Establish a network of third-party aid to stimulate continuous knowledge and offer both formal and informal technological guidance to vendors and suppliers. • Foster strategic alliances with vendors and suppliers to widen expertise and capabilities. • Investigate and create eco-friendly raw materials and processes to augment product and supply chain productivity. Requirements • Demonstrable experience in Research & Development, preferably within the textiles industry • Proven ability to manage vendor relationships effectively • Technical experience with textiles, including fabric types, production methods, and industry standards (including dyeing, textile processing, manufacturing of cut & sew process, etc) • Proficient in project management techniques and tools • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with vendors and team members • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure • Knowledge of industry trends and advancements in textile technology • Ability to lead a team and foster a collaborative work environment • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Textile Engineering, Material Science, or a related field is preferred.
