Job Summary
The Fabrication Supervisor owns the metrics of safety, quality, delivery, cost, productivity, total associate engagement, cross training and 6S within fabrication operations. The Fabrication Supervisor is responsible for driving improvements in all the aforementioned metrics as well as developing shop floor Team Leaders and Associates to take ownership of their areas and function as a cohesive, independent group.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Oversees the daily workflow and assignments of production associates.Owns and actively participates in daily Gemba walks and drives root cause countermeasures to ensure daily production goals.Drives and owns accuracy to production schedules and owns inventory accuracy of production.Works collaboratively with other departments to assure that daily SQDC (safety, quality, delivery and cost) metrics are met.Provides constructive and timely performance evaluation and feedback.Develops training plans to meet safety, regulatory and production requirements.Leads and participates on cross functional quality improvement teams.Communicates standard operating procedures and plant rules to all production team members ensuring that they are implemented and strictly adhered to.Maintains a safe and clean working environment for all plant employees and visitors.Ensures all safety rules are followed.Use root cause analysis, 5 why process, and Standard Work to eliminate waste. Champion use of Lean tools through involvement in kaizens and other process improvement activities.Leads/facilitates kaizen events and other continuous improvement projects as needed.Manages production and overtime schedules. Manages direct reports attendance and payroll.Evaluates employee performance, recommends areas for improvement, and makes decisions involving employment, wages, and discipline.Creates and sustains a safe work environment.Performs other duties as assigned.Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, including previous experience in leadership.Experience in a fabrication manufacturing environment preferred.Thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly learn production operations and machinery.Excellent supervisory and leadership skills.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Proven time management skills with ability to meet deadlines.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Computers and related software to complete reports and logs.Lean experience and/or certification strongly preferred..
Education and Experience
Three years of applicable experience.
Travel
Infrequent overnight travel required.
