Fabrication Team Specialist
Employee Value Proposition Working for a world class leader in building structures and bridges, a Schuff Steel Team Specialist brings their expertise and knowledge in steel materials to directly supervise and coordinate production employees performing fabrication of raw materials, parts, and fabricated steel. Critical to the production process this position directs and assists employees to ensure production needs are met. The Team Specialist utilizes a high degree of proficiency while employing full skills of the trade including knowledge of steel fabrication. Core Responsibilities + Ensures that production staff is adhering to all applicable safety standards through training and accountability; + Provides guidance, instruction, direction and leadership while directly supervising production staff to meet the established production and quality standards; + Provides the team with the vision of the project objectives; + Provides motivation and accountability to the team; + Responsible for providing training and documentation for assigned production staff as needed; including JHA’s, quality procedures, and production processes; + Responsible for maintaining and holding employees accountable to established production and quality standards; + Encourages constant improvement and leads by example; + Must adhere to and follow all safety rules and PPE requirements; + Review and correct daily timecards prior to the start of shift on the following day; + Provide daily safety / production / quality toolbox talks; + Perform and document weekly safety meetings; + Update production reports prior to the start of shift; + Preplan daily work activities utilizing the DAP tool; + Utilize the Aline System for all maintenance and equipment needs; + Meet with Fabrication Superintendent for preproduction review and coordination; + Plan and order required consumables, small tools, and other items necessary for production needs for assigned areas of responsibility; + Create, maintain, and close-out production quality issues via Schuff Steel’s SDR reporting system; + Utilize, maintain, and edit the ship schedule as required. Specialized Knowledge – Certificates & Licenses + Equipment Knowledge & Skills – Knowledge of welding and steel-working process and equipment. Must have experience with crane, rigging and forklifts to manage and move steel material as needed. + Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret blueprints and documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. + Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure. + Reasoning Ability: Understand safe and proper operation of common machinery in a steel fabrication environment; Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. + Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: None. Software & Technology Desktop PC; Microsoft software applications including Windows, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook. Kronos, Blue Beam PDF Software, Concur Software for expenses, Strumis, and other software as needed.
