Overall Job Summary:

Responsible to set up and operate manual and CNC controlled cut-off saws and related machines such chop saws, grinders, and sanders, etc., to perform sawing operations according to specifications, tooling, instructions, standard charts and knowledge of machining procedures.  This position is expected to perform at a higher level within the department and includes additional responsibilities for inventory maintenance and decision making.

 

 

Specific Job Responsibilities:

Read specific job plans accurately, and identify appropriate raw materials for the job Operate appropriate machinery to prepare raw material for machining work centers Monitor raw materials stock to insure adequate inventory Maintain, and understand why, the organization and labeling of the raw material is important Must be able to set up and operate equipment with a minimal amount of direction Implement and maintain "5S" techniques in the area (method of organization) Determine, recommend and implement ways to increase efficiency in the area. Create good work instructions. Able to make good decisions and act on them independently. Able to work overtime Able to lift up to 45 pounds frequently Other duties as required

 

Education/Experience

High school diploma or equivalent Prior experience running CNC saws, drill presses, sanders Prior experience working with and identifying metals preferred
