Position Summary:
The Facilities and Equipment Technician I is responsible for preventive maintenance and the repair of refrigeration equipment and monitoring systems for the repository laboratory. This role will be required to conform to the company equipment/system validation and maintenance program as well as complete simple to intermediate repairs for all equipment related to the repository operations.
Essential functions of the job include but are not limited to:
Preventive maintenance and limited evaluation of repository refrigeration equipment:
Change alarm batteries on mechanical freezers as appropriate Clean all air filters and compressor compartments to ensure they are free of dust and debris Perform all inspections of refrigeration equipment. Consists of a 15 point inspection of critical systems, including but not limited to oil level, compressor operation, electrical demand, temperature sensor calibration, etc. Perform performance qualifications of all refrigeration equipmentRefrigeration, lab equipment, Central Monitoring System and Emergency Generator Inspection and Repair:
Review equipment failures and evaluate potential causes with little supervision Repair all problems as capable Perform weekly inspections of emergency generators Install and maintain low voltage wiring for Central Monitoring System Maintain accurate documentation utilizing Faciliworks Software to track all repairs on all equipmentParticipate in the Equipment Validation Program
Validate all refrigeration equipment according to established protocols Perform validations on shipping containers as required Maintain documentation of all validations following Quality Guidelines Perform unique validations on laboratory equipment as requestedFacilities:
Plumbing and electrical repairs Lighting maintenance Painting as requiredMiscellaneous:
Respond to equipment failures as directed in an appropriate manner during and after regular business hours Participate in Facilities Group On-Call rotation Employee is required to participate in Emergency On Call List and must report to designated location, in the event of an emergency, within 60 minutes of notification, when on call. All employees are on call in the event of a major emergency and are expected to immediately report to the facility to the best of their ability. Current contact information and changes to phone numbers must be communicated to ensure the Emergency On Call List is properly maintained Remain current on emerging electronic, refrigeration, monitoring system and laboratory equipment technologies Carry out other duties/project as assignedQualifications:
Minimum Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent 1-3 years’ related experience in mechanical or maintenance
Other Required:
Ability to install low voltage electrical wiring Required to drive vehicles up to 25,999 lbs GVW. Must possess a valid driver’s license allowing you to drive in the state(s) you drive in Must have and maintain a safe driving record and provide proof of such on an annual basis. Must be able to read, write, speak fluently and comprehend the English languagePreferred:
Formal training in heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR) EPA certification to handle refrigerants DOT certified medical exam card in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (49 CFR 391.41-391.49).
