Job SummaryThe Life Sciences Institute (LSI) is looking for an energized, team-player to join our facilities team that provides high-level facilities support for Mary Sue Coleman Hall. You will perform and support facility-related activities that are physical and require lifting, squatting, climbing. You will become a member of the LSI operations team, report directly to the Building Manager and perform your work fully onsite.

Responsibilities*Identify, report and follow-up on facility related issues, including initiating work request for building problems and responding to inquiries and complaints regarding services performed in the buildingAnswer and respond to facility related issues within ticketing systemSupport the planning, preparation and physical staging for events including scheduling roomsSupport research activities including checks of cold rooms, and film processors to ensure they are working and maintained, replenish laboratory paper towel and soapHelp with moves of lab equipment and lab changes, such as installation/removal of compressed gas cylinder restraintsHelp with the proper handling of incoming/outgoing packages and mailHelp with the LSI Research Services Program which includes biohazardous waste and glass wash servicesSupport U-M asset tagging system to track equipment within the buildingSupport CCure and Locknetic card reader systemsParticipate in recycling efforts and education with building occupantsMonitor and order office and facilities suppliesPartner and build collaborative relationships with UM departments such as maintenance, grounds, custodial, movers, environmental health safety and securityDelivers excellent customer service by utilizing strong interpersonal and listening skills, ensuring all interactions are handled professionally and with a positive attitudeHandle special projects and other duties as assignedRequired Qualifications*High School diploma or equivalentDemonstrate reliability by working in a variety of conditions, which may include hot or cold environments, outdoor settings, and situations that may require physical exertionAbility to maintain organization and clear communication with supervisor, colleagues and customersMinimum of 6 months experience with Google applications (email, calendar) and Microsoft products (Word, Excel)Minimum of 1 year of facilities support experience in a research environmentHave the physical ability to:Routinely moves/transports equipment and/or supplies weighing up to 30 pounds throughout the building Must be able to remain in a stationary position up to 80% of a workdayMust be able to traverse throughout the building up to 80% of a workdayOccasionally ascends/descends ladders for placing ceiling signs, fixing door openers, replacing batteries for door alarms, getting items off of shelves or off from on top of equipment.Push/pull 50+ pounds of lab equipment and furniture on a cartWork in different types of space, which may include tight interstitial areas that require bending, crouching, or positions that may require lying on the floor to install equipment, furniture, signs, etc.Desired Qualifications*Minimum of 1 year of experience in shipping activities and knowledge of documents necessary for domestic and international shipmentsMinimum of 1 year of experience working in shipping/receiving dock environmentMinimum of 1 year experience with manual/power equipment such as hand tools, drills and pallet jackModes of WorkPositions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department.
