Facilities Automation Technician

Edwards Lifesciences is seeking and advanced level industrial Automation technician, CMS, EMS, LSS and BMS technician (Continuous Monitoring System, Energy Management System, Life Safety System and Building Management System) to join our team.

How you’ll make an impact:

This Automation technician will work at our facility located in Cartago Zona Franca la Lima, will perform a monitoring and maintenance of our automation facilities systems to ensure zero failure by providing an advanced level of expertise in maintaining, troubleshooting and servicing all aspects of the building automation systems in a large-scale multi-purpose complex.

The facilities automation technician must have a unique skill that combines computer-based programming, electrical controls, industrial instrumentation and mainly facilities HVAC (Heat vacuum and air conditioning) equipment knowledge to understand a building sequence of operations. This knowledge enables visibility and control to a pre-determined computerized program that balances air handlers, exhaust fans, and chilled water systems for personal comfort in office and cleanrooms spaces with a variable temperature and humidity scenarios for a medical device industry.

The facilities automation technician will be part of the automation team that monitors, troubleshoot and improve all aspects of a building’s temperature, differential pressure and humidity across several cleanrooms, warehouses and office spaces and is capable to calibrate, diagnose, troubleshoot, install and repair a wide variety of electronic/pneumatic control devices on all facilities system, like HVAC, Drinking water, RODI (reverse osmosis and Deionization), Hot water and pumping systems using mainly Viewlinc from Vailasa as a the CMS solution implemented and Ecostructure software from Schneider Electric solution as the BMS and their hardware solutions associated.

The facilities automation technician will collaborate with more advanced specialized technicians, subcontractors or engineers to perform facilities related tasks, should be able to effectively communicates with the rest of the team and some internal customers to understand requirements and issues and be able to create reports to communicate either verbal or written to the automation engineer.

The facilities automation technician must have the ability to identify and correct any safety related issues associated to their systems and adhere to ALL safety rules and standards from Edwards Lifesciences.

The technician will help ensure the operational success of the site by performing with integrity and diligence round and readings on the associated systems ensuring a smooth operation for the plant. High degree of judgment and initiative is required in resolving complex nonstandard problems and developing recommendations. Normally receives general instructions on routine work, and detailed instructions on new work.
 

Essential Functions, tasks and responsibilities:

Daily Check and ensure the operation of BMS, PME, CMS and LSS Systems, Takes the appropriate actions in Case of Any Abnormalities/Critical active alarms.

 Takes noticed of all alarms and informs statuses to respective stakeholder.

 Check the Operational Availability of all the systems equipment’s through BMS System and escalate to automation engineer of facilities engineer and Respective vendors if any equipment’s are unable to control and operate through BMS.

 Check and ensure all the essential parameters are Displayed appropriately in CMS/BMS/PME/LSS systems.

Perform daily shift round and reading ensuring the availability of the servers associated to the systems and all the controllers, sensors and energy meters.

Perform routine preventive maintenance on associated controller cabinets and sensors.

Generate as required trends and graphics to analyze the stability of the controlled areas.

Able to read and understands electronic and electrical control schematics.

Able to detect machine hazards, electrical problems, repair and/or replace electrical, electronic and mechanical components.

Identify and solve all control related issues.

Work with third parties vendors contractors or suppliers on specific task assuring for the flawless solutions

Maintain documentation about performed changes using formal software (MAXIMO) for documented maintenance activities in accordance with the quality guidelines of the company.

Support the calibration team on performing calibration on instrumentation like temperature, differential pressure, dataloggers and humidity.

Understands company policies and enforces safety regulations. Safely performs functions of the position including following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis, lockout/tagout, and wearing PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as required.

Operates a variety of equipment such as hand tools, laptop computers, portable temperature and humidity dataloggers, multimeter and diagnostic hardware to perform work.

Other duties as assigned by Management or Lead.

Collaborate in the creation and maintenance of stock parts, request quotations from vendors and generate internal purchasing request for the spare parts need it.

Perform field investigations for root cause analysis of electromechanical and control failures.

Keep work order tracking in order to have no overdue for maintenance work orders in the system.

What you’ll need:

Technical Degree or Diploma or advanced Bachelor's studies in Electronics, Electrical, Electromechanical, Mechatronic or related field.

More than 8 years of experience in related position

Experience working in a medical device industry. Preferred

Good communication skills, both written and oral in English (Intermediate level). Preferred

Strong knowledge in facilities operation with some level of expertise on BMS, CMS, LSS systems and energy management systems, knowledge in Ecostructure and viewlinc.

Be able to read and interpret technical drawings (electrical, electronic and mechanical)

Able to work other shifts and overtime to complete work as needed.

Willing to be on call to support production needs.

Able to install and uninstall electrical components.

Knowledge of Medical Industry machinery and production processes.

Knowledge on machine transfers oversea.

Experience on regulated industries.

Work shift:

Availability to work from Monday to Friday from 8.00 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.

What else we look for (preferred):

Knowledge in configuration, installation and programing on PLC in technologies like RS Logix 5000, Studio 5000, ABB drives are considering a plus.

Experience using metrology equipment.

Problem Solving Methodologies.

Windows Software Packages Proficiency. (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Advance knowledge in programming of BMS systems on Ecostructure solution

Advance knowledge in viewlinc from Vaisala operation.

Expertise in validations performance for facilities systems.
