Job Description

The Facilities Capacity Planning Engineer is responsible for developing and driving an efficient strategic plan for Facilities Systems capacities. The role requires strong analytical and collaboration skills to derive plans for future support needs with Manufacturing and other support departments.

ResponsibilityProject Management/Planning:Leads projects to ensure deliverables are completed within the required scope, schedule and budgetSupervises actions and provides customer concern path or resources to ensure actions will be completed on timeDefines and leads complex, multi-disciplinary projects of critical importance to MicronCollaborates with partners on the design and coordination of projectsPrepares project scope and ensures vital guidance from appropriate collaboratorsEnsures that scope meets requestor needs and collaborates with consultant resources to identify areas of improvementProvides support for cost and schedule estimates and justification for approvalWorks with appropriate personnel to address problems or make correctionsSupports equipment startup and commissioningHelps to shape strategic decisions and provides technical supportSupervises engineering capacity and load data to ensure all items are accounted for and plannedTechnical/Data Analysis:Analyzes systems data to make critical decisions, improve performance, gain efficiency, and drive cost savingsAssists in providing metrics for cost, capacity, performance reports, and trending and forecasting with comparisons to recognized industry standardsBuilds and maintains models of planned or forecasted increases in system capacities, end of life replacements and space increases or modificationsProvides effective and timely guidance to resolve issues and is highly engaged in key problem resolutionProvides consultation and technical support to Operations, Maintenance, Manufacturing and other department/sitesProvides engineering support for mid to long term infrastructure planning for FacilitiesWorks with Manufacturing on excursion root cause identification, elimination, and preventionMaintains applicable subject area knowledge, such as space management theory, forecasting system capacities, etc.Uses administrative and engineering databases in support of job tracking, engineering data, capital equipment facilitation, and critical system loads and capacitiesEnsures safety is considered in all aspects of design, enhancement, modification and processQualifications:Excellent multi-tasking, time-management, organization and prioritization skillsProven ability to communicate complex analysis and technical information in a succinct and actionable mannerStrong leadership skills with the proven ability to coordinate efforts across a variety of groupsDemonstrated ability to be meticulous, follow complex procedures, and work with minimal directionDemonstrated analytical problem-solving skills with ability to solve sophisticated problems and address root causesStrong skills in Microsoft Office Outlook, Excel and Power PointStrong understanding of data extraction, data analysis and visualization methodologiesExperience or knowledge of data collection, warehousing systems, and data cleansing

The Facilities Capacity Planning Engineer at Micron is responsible for working in a team environment with other engineering fields to plan facilities capacities, future capital and space management in support of manufacturing and support areas. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to

Safety & Quality:Finishes all required safety training and conducts all work in accordance with Micron and Technology Development (TD) safety policiesStops work for safety if unsafe conditions and/or behaviors are identifiedUses and reviews job hazard analysis (JHA/JSA) for work being performedFollows all safety and environmental procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws including PPE, CoHe (lockout /tagout) and chemical safetyFollows-up on safety and quality related issues immediately and works towards resolution with stakeholdersActively participates in the EHS program by reporting all EHS-related concerns or problems immediately (maximum 24 hrs)Proactively sees opportunities to reduce potential hazards which may impact personnel health and/or the environmentDrives quality improvement initiatives in their area to reduce Fab impacts, improve efficiency and identify cost savingsCommunication & Collaboration:Ensures appropriate communication with facilities and manufacturing collaboratorsPartners with key stakeholders to develop solutions to continuously improve critical metricsPartners with team members to increase efficiency of utility systems and improve system stabilityPartners with team members, EHS and Engineering and Operations to understand impact of changesCollaborates with areas leaders to create personal performance and development goalsCommunicates effectively with manufacturing and other collaborators for preparations of future technologyCommunicates proactively with leaders and team members on the daily priorities and issuesAttends and participates in meetings and provides relevant technical recommendationsCommunicates changes made to equipment and follows business rules for change controlPartners in data collection, gap analysis, and improvement implementationProactively communicates issues that could cause Fab impact, defects, tool restrictions, or lost movesCoordinates with stakeholders and leaders on issues and changes, and provides regular status updatesBroadens cross-disciplinary knowledge through new assignmentsListens to customer feedback, recognizes opportunities and provides feedback for technical innovationEducation and Experience:Required: BS in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Production Operations, or relevant experiencePreferred: Tableau, PowerBI or other relevant data science skillsPreferred: Prior engineering internship
