Job Title: Facilities Engineering Manager

Salary: £63,537 per annum + depending upon experience

Location: Peterborough, UK

About IPSD

Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L Cat® and Perkins engines that power over 5000 applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. Job Summary

In this role you will be responsible for setting the long-term electrical infrastructure strategy for our facility, while ensuring deliverables in the short term are met to achieve this. Leading the electrical facilities engineering team supporting site electrical infrastructure for new infrastructure projects and ensuring regulatory compliance. You will be responsible for creating and managing a facility electrical engineering capital budget, ensuring resources are developed, allocated and prioritized. You will contribute directly on technical matters and support your team and the wider organization. You will be accountable for the technical sign-off of electrical facility engineering projects, including safety, compliance, and performance. This role is a critical part of the site infrastructure team, and it will challenge you, but is also very rewarding as you be able to directly see how your efforts support our business, and our teams.

Additional Info

This position is currently a 5 day weekly office presence onsite at our Peterborough office. However, work arrangements may be adjusted at any time based on business needs.

What You Will Do (Skills)

To collaborate & manage interactions on behalf of Caterpillar with external suppliers & contractors to develop design solutions.

Support and engagement with multiple internal departments in support of current and new electrical projects

Develops improvement plans for senior management and evaluates the outcome of the design against the functionality.

Advises on the appropriate solutions to complex electrical infrastructure design and development problems.

Leadership

Understand wider business needs to best support and apply electrical infrastructure plans now and future 

Ability to gain support and engagement from other groups and team members to align on needs from an electrical infrastructure perspective, including training needs, role expectations

Develop business plans to support site infrastructure investments

Experience in internal and external audits on behalf of the business

Advises others on the assessment and provision of all electrical infrastructure technical solutions

Coaches others to enhance their technical competence and its application to achieve more effective technical solutions.

Provides effective solutions to complex technical challenges through strong technical competence, effectively examining implications of events and issues during normal operations and during emergencies.

Assumes accountability for personal technical performance and holds others responsible for theirs.

Self-motivation and an ability to manage and deliver tasks to meet established commitments, addressing potential conflicts.

What You Must Have

Technical Excellence: Knowledge of electrical infrastructure installations and maintenance; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.

Competence in High voltage distribution networks and all associated compliances under electricity at work regulations

Competence in Low voltage distribution networks and all associated compliances under electricity at work regulations

Experience in CAD

Strong technical background (minimum HNC or technical degree preferred in electrical engineering) though other qualifications or experience are equally valued to be demonstrated

Design knowledge of electrical systems with competencies in protection studies and installation design validation and verification

·Knowledge and usage of electrical software

Proven experience in electrical system validation & verification of protection systems from concept through to delivery

Experience in SAP/AP duties for the business

Understanding of sustainability solutions

Understanding Experience with preemptive maintenance

Experience with maintenance activities both LV & HV for compliance

Understanding of electric vehicle systems - battery build and test facilities

Experience with permit writing for restricted areas, substations and HV transfer of networks to external suppliers and contractors

Experience with safe operating procedures and safety documentation control - operational safety procedures, SFMEA & Dynamic risk assessments
