SummaryThe Facilities - Field Engineer is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and renovating facility structures to make sure they meet building codes, safety standards, and project requirements. This role requires solid knowledge of engineering, construction, and building inspection. The Facilities - Field Engineer will work closely with architects, contractors, project managers, and local authorities to ensure that facilities are safe, efficient, and up to standard. This position focuses especially on inspecting building exteriors and roofs, so hands-on experience with these areas and report writing is ideal.

Physical Demands & Work Environment• The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to thirty-five pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to seventy-five pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation• This job is in Florida, with exposure to intense sun, intense heat, humidity, rain, thunderstorms, and other adverse weather conditions• Job site conditions may or may not be accessible by vehicle and can include wetlands, swamps, grasslands, and fields with uneven surfaces, sand, brush, and other natural and man-made obstacles• This job is primarily and regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and construction sites where the noise level is usually moderate to loudEssential Duties and Responsibilities:Conduct inspections of building envelopes, including roofing, windows, and doors, to ensure compliance with industry standards and identify structural issues or defectsPerform detailed roof evaluations using RRO best practices to identify any leaks, deterioration, or damageGather field data through various methods (visual inspections, photographs, field tests) and record observations accuratelyCompile well-organized inspection reports that summarize findings, recommendations, and corrective actions, using photographs, diagrams, and sketches to support the findingsInteract professionally with clients on-site, providing preliminary explanations of findings and addressing questions as neededCollaborate with team members, including engineers and project managers, to ensure inspections meet project requirements and client expectationsAdhere to company safety standards and protocols to maintain safe field operationsDevelop and implement engineering solutions for facility renovations, repairs, and upgrades to improve efficiency, functionality, and safetyProvide technical support on construction sites, addressing design modifications and unforeseen challengesCoordinate and monitor construction and maintenance projects, ensuring they adhere to timelines, budgets, and quality standardsWork with architects, contractors, and stakeholders to communicate requirements, resolve on-site issues, and approve work progressConduct quality assurance audits to verify that building systems function optimally and meet design specificationsIdentify potential risks and hazards, implementing safety measures to minimize liability and ensure a safe work environmentStay updated on industry standards, regulations, and emerging technologies in building engineering and inspectionTrain and mentor team members on best practices in building inspection, field engineering, and safety complianceFollow all safety proceduresPerform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:Valid Florida Driver’s License with acceptable driving record (in accordance with our Driver’s License and Motor Vehicle Record Check Criteria)Ability to pass a background check screening in accordance with Florida’s Jessica Lunsford Act (or equivalent state classification)High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred but not required3-5 years of experience in facility or building envelope inspections, including hands-on roof assessment workRegistered Roof Observer (RRO) certification or equivalent experience in roof inspectionsProficient in reading and interpreting construction documents and specifications; knowledge of common materials and practices in building envelope systemsStrong written communication skills for effective report writingAbility to work at heights, climb ladders, and perform physical tasks on-site as neededPreferred Qualifications:Engineering Intern (EI): Certification is a plusStrong knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and construction materialsProficient in field inspection tools, construction management software, and AutoCAD or similar design softwareExcellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to make decisions in fast-paced environmentsStrong written and verbal communication skills for detailed report writing and stakeholder communicationCapable of working under minimal supervisionStrong team player Previous experience preferably in an AEC industryWho We Are: UES provides essential engineering services for some of the most prominent and significant projects in the nation.
