**Job Title: Zone Mechanic**
**Job Description**
The Zone Maintenance Mechanic will perform inspections, maintenance, and repair work on building systems and components. This work is performed under general supervision using the tools and techniques of various technologies, including electrical, carpentry, mechanical, and plumbing.
**Responsibilities**
+ Perform inspections, maintenance, and repair work on building systems and components.
+ Utilize knowledge of basic electrical, carpentry, mechanical, and plumbing techniques and procedures.
+ Adhere to safety rules, procedures, and practices, including the proper use of safety equipment as defined by OSHA and industry standards.
+ Apply trades and safety knowledge effectively.
+ Safely use tools and equipment.
+ Solve problems and manage information efficiently.
+ Communicate proficiently in written and verbal English to interact with departmental staff.
+ Identify and avoid hazards using warning labels, signage, lights, and other warning devices.
+ Complete work within reasonable lengths of time as measured against trade, industry, or engineered standards.
**Essential Skills**
+ Knowledge of basic electrical, carpentry, mechanical, and plumbing techniques, procedures, and codes.
+ Knowledge of safety rules, procedures, and practices.
+ Ability to use tools and equipment safely.
+ Problem-solving and information management skills.
+ Proficient written and verbal English communication skills.
+ Ability to identify and avoid hazards.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ 5 years of experience in facility maintenance, HVAC, building maintenance, general building maintenance, electrical, plumbing, troubleshooting, repair, painting, preventive maintenance.
+ Ability to work within confined spaces and in awkward positions.
+ Ability to work at heights of up to 30 feet using ladders, lifts, and equipment.
+ Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time.
+ Ability to load/unload and transport/position tools, equipment, and materials, and push/pull loaded hand trucks weighing up to 75 pounds.

**Work Environment**
Work is performed in shop and mechanical area environments with exposure to dust, heat, cold, noise, and fumes. Work may be performed outdoors with exposure to extreme temperatures and other weather conditions. Work includes shifts from 3pm to 11:30pm, weekend shifts from 7am to 11:30pm plus 8 hours during the week. The environment may require getting into and working within confined spaces and in awkward positions, as well as working at heights of up to 30 feet above the surface using ladders, lifts, and equipment.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Baltimore, Maryland.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $30.00
