The Position:
The facilities manager is responsible for the daily operations of Veracyte’s CLIA certified high volume clinical lab located in South San Francisco, CA. The manager will be responsible for overseeing a significant buildout project with a substantial budget. Alongside the facilities team, the Manager will be responsible for managing multiple contractors and ensuring project milestones and requirements are met. Strong communication skills and the ability to maintain strict timelines are essential. The candidate must be adept at identifying risks early and implementing solutions to mitigate them. This role requires travel to various sites and flexibility to meet, discuss, and effectively manage teams and expectations. The ideal candidate should be capable of coordinating complex projects and ensuring alignment across all stakeholders to drive success.
Responsibilities: Oversee daily operations and maintenance of warehouse, lab, and office spaces, ensuring safety and functionality of all areas. Work with laboratory and quality teams to meet CLIA, CAP, and NYDOH standards, including scheduling preventive maintenance and ensuring regulatory compliance. Stay current with OSHA regulations and training, enforcing safety protocols and maintaining IIPP documentation and incident reports. Support EHS programs to promote a safe work environment and minimize risks. Coordinate with contractors to maintain HVAC and plumbing systems, ensuring lab conditions meet industry standards. Manage vendor relationships, obtain competitive bids, negotiate contracts, and oversee work quality. Track expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities and ensure projects stay within budget. Create and implement emergency response plans and conduct training and drills. Collaborate with Director of Facilities, team leaders, architects and engineers on lab design, optimizing for safety and compliance. Who You Are: Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience). 8+ years of facilities management experience, preferably in biotech/pharma. Experience managing high-volume, regulated lab facilities. Strong OSHA knowledge and safety program implementation. Proficiency in HVAC/plumbing systems and lab space planning. Vendor management and cost control expertise. Multi-site management and effective prioritization skills. Excellent communication, leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Details: On-site role at South San Francisco laboratories. On-call for emergencies during holidays/weekends. Travel to other lab locations as needed.#LI-Onsite
The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units. Veracyte is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
