Here’s the Gist: 

Wolfspeed is seeking a Facilities Operations Technician to join the Facilities Operations & Maintenance Team at our location in Marcy, NY – the world’s largest 200mm silicon carbide Fab. This position requires you to operate and maintain the systems that provide uninterrupted services and critical utilities as needed to maintain life safety and production. Ensuring environmental regulation compliance and factory specifications. 

 

Shift work (12hr shifts) required to provide 24x7 coverage for the production facility (including night shift). This is a position that requires attendance during adverse weather conditions. 

 

The Day-to-Day: 

  • Monitor and operate HVAC equipment, hydronic systems including chilled, heating, heat recovery, and wastewater systems, compressed air, medium voltage electrical distribution, and various exhaust systems on the Facility Management Control System (FMCS/SCADA). 

  • Proficiency with computers and software including Microsoft Office suite of products. 

  • Provide support for new equipment installation, startup, commissioning, and sustaining operations. 

  • Perform routine operator rounds of equipment and systems and provide first response as well as root cause analysis of system issues.

  • Troubleshoot system parameters that fall outside of normal operating range. 

  • Utilize control systems to monitor equipment within the factory and analyze trend data. 

  • Must be able to work safely, use all personal protective equipment as required by OSHA and job requirements. 

  • Improve the reliability of equipment and systems through collaboration with teammates and facilities engineers. 

 

This Job is Right for You if You Have (Minimum Requirements): 

  • High School Diploma or GED Required; 2-year technical degree / certification or equivalent military experience preferred.

  • A Valid US Driver's license is required. 

  • 2+ years of progressive responsibility and related experience working in an industrial setting. 

  • Requires the ability to read facility utility equipment manuals. 

  • Use of computerized building management system / SCADA to maintain and troubleshoot facility equipment. 

  • Ability to troubleshoot and effectively resolve complex equipment malfunctions on plumbing, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, chillers, fire system and other types of facility equipment. 

  • Advanced understanding of equipment/systems and in the diagnosis and repair of electrical and mechanical problems. 

  • Document clearly (verbal and written) and ability to work from verbal and written instructions, manuals, wiring diagrams, schematics, piping and instrument diagrams, work orders and specification. 

  • Demonstrated experience of working independently

 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job: 

  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. 

  • Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment. 

  • Ability to work in repetitive motions and pressure involving fingers, hands, and wrists, includes standing or walking over hard concrete surface, and climbing ladders

  • Ability to wear fall protection if required

The posted salary range is what Wolfspeed reasonably expects to pay for this position. Actual pay for a hired applicant will be determined based on the individual’s job-relevant qualifications, experience, and other determinative factors. In the event it is determined that a different job level upon hire is warranted then that range will be communicated to the hired applicant as soon as reasonably practicable.

Compensation Range:

$24.35 - $33.50
