NeueHouse: Home of the New Our Properties NeueHouse currently operates across three different, but equally iconic properties in New York City and Los Angeles: + Our Madison Square (MSQ) House is situated in New York’s iconic Flatiron District, was previously home for Tepper Galleries, a well-known Manhattan auction house for international artists and collectors in the 1930s – and neighbors the 69th Regiment Armory where the first International Exhibition of Modern Art was held. + Our Hollywood House (HWD), which sits on Sunset Boulevard, is one of LA’s most celebrated buildings and occupies the original CBS Studio (the world’s first structure built intentionally for broadcast). Here genre- defining artists from Orson Wells and Lucille Ball to Janis Joplin, the Beach Boys, and Bob Dylan built their legacy. + Our Venice Beach House (VB) was once the creative home to some of the most influential creative luminaries in art and entertainment including Hal Ashby, Oliver Stone, and David Hockney, NeueHouse Venice Beach is a new work, social, and cultural hub for the Venice creative community. The Role The Facilities Technician delivers exceptional and timely maintenance services to ensure a welcoming and well-maintained environment for NeueHouse members. Reporting to the Venice Beach General Manager, this role sets the standard for the house’s atmosphere and condition, creating a seamless experience for members, visitors, vendors, and team members alike. As the home of the new, we are constantly evolving how we work, create, and collaborate. The Facilities Technician plays a vital role in supporting this dynamic environment by providing hands-on assistance and coordination across all departments. Responsibilities include but are not limited to building preventive maintenance, installations, event setup and breakdown, furniture moving, general repairs, and overall upkeep of the house. Responsibilities + Perform general maintenance tasks, including painting, spackling, plumbing, basic mechanical, electrical, light carpentry, and lighting repairs. + Assist with event setup and breakdown, including room resets according to floor plans and supporting event operations. + Provide support across departments as needed, ensuring flexibility in managing tasks such as furniture moving, equipment maintenance, and general upkeep. + Conduct daily walk-throughs of the property to identify and address immediate maintenance needs. + Ensure all facility equipment is safe to use and functioning properly. + Perform preventative maintenance assignments as scheduled. + Maintain an inventory of maintenance supplies, notifying management when supplies need to be ordered. + Assist in prioritizing and addressing maintenance requests, complaints, and work orders. + Coordinate with outside vendors for repairs, upgrades, and equipment replacements as needed. + Ensure compliance with fire safety standards, OSHA regulations, and company safety policies. + Support members and guests by providing friendly, professional, and efficient service. + Report facility deficiencies and maintenance concerns to management. + Attend necessary meetings to stay informed of facility needs and updates. Requirements + Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. + Hands-on experience in general maintenance, including painting, spackling, plumbing, light carpentry, electrical work, and mechanical repairs. + Basic knowledge of fire safety standards and OSHA compliance. + Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. + Ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment and initiative. + Strong teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate effectively. + Proficient in inspecting and diagnosing common malfunctions in restaurant equipment. + Skilled in performing minor and major technical repairs and adjustments within established timeframes. + Ability to read and interpret manuals, schematics, plans, and specifications relevant to maintenance duties. + Excellent customer service skills, demonstrating a professional and approachable demeanor. + Strong written and verbal communication skills. + Physically capable of standing, walking, bending, climbing, reaching overhead, squatting, kneeling, and lifting up to 65 pounds. + Frequent stooping, crouching, balancing, and grasping of objects. + Comfortable with frequent stair climbing and performing tasks requiring continuous motion. + High school diploma or equivalent required, plus a minimum of two (2) years of experience in restaurant equipment repair. + General expertise in electrical work, plumbing, and carpentry.
