Job Description

Position Summary

The Facilities Technician is responsible for assisting the Operations Manager or Manager on Duty with the implementation of safety plans, operating standards and guidelines, troubleshooting, repairs, and performing preventative maintenance required to maintain the physical assets of the property.

ResponsibilitiesInstall, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain various building systemsOperate a variety of equipment to perform preventative maintenance, minor repairs and maintain cleanliness of property  Perform a variety of maintenance/minor repair activities on the interior/exterior areas of the property including, but not limited to, painting, drywall, parking lots, sidewalks, plumbing repairs, clears drain stoppages, lighting, flooring, and roofAssist with maintaining appropriate inventory systems, records, files, material safety data sheets, supplies, equipment, and toolsRepair, modify, move retail merchandising units as neededAssist in the setup of events and install/take-down mall decorPerform interior/exterior custodial duties as needed which may include sweeping, vacuuming, steam cleaning, gathering trash, empty trash receptacles; operate compactor; and landscapingAssist with snow removal by vehicle and/or by hand (if applicable)Embody and support Brookfield Properties’ Safety, Health, and Environment Policy. Perform the job in accordance with all applicable standards, policies and regulatory guidelines (including OSHA standards) to promote a safe working environment.Engage in training and continuing education to develop the knowledge, skills, and competencies required to work safelyAssist with emergency planning and response in coordination with management teamSome shift work, evenings, weekends, and emergency response is requiredProvide assistance and interact with the public and tenants as neededOther duties as assigned

Qualifications          

High School Diploma or GED requiredMinimum of 2-3 years of experience in building maintenance or a related fieldValid Driver's License requiredAbility to communicate information clearly with management, employees, tenants, and external contactsAbility to read and interpret documents, plans and schematic drawings and comprehend instructionsSelf-starter with ability to work independently2-year Tech School Graduate or trade certificate is a plusOSHA General Industries 10-Hour course is a plusFamiliar with, or ability to learn Microsoft Outlook (email)Bilingual welcomed
