Overview of Position

The Facilities Technician SC will be responsible for the upkeep, maintenance, and repair of all facilities-related equipment and infrastructure within the distribution center. This role ensures that all systems and services operate smoothly, safely, and efficiently, and that the building space is safe and secure, contributing to the overall success of the distribution operations.

II. Job Responsibilities

Perform routine and preventive maintenance on building systems such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other facility infrastructure. Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions promptly to minimize downtime. Ensure that all facilities are maintained according to safety standards and regulatory requirements. Assist with regular safety inspections and address any hazards or issues. When needed, oversee the condition and operation of distribution center equipment, including conveyor systems, forklifts, and other machinery. Coordinate repairs and replacements as needed. Manage the cleanliness and general upkeep of the facility, including janitorial tasks, waste management, maintaining exterior grounds (tasks inclusive of driving the company van). Liaise with landlord building contacts and external service providers for specialized facility tasks or repairs. Ensure that vendor work is completed to standard and in a timely manner. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections. Prepare and submit reports as required by management. Act as a first responder to facility emergencies, including power outages, flooding, and equipment breakdowns, to resolve issues and minimize impact on operations. Support facility improvement projects, including installations, upgrades, and modifications, working closely with project managers and other team members. Perform other duties as assigned.

III. Scope

The Facilities Technician SC uses the materials required, resources, and meets schedules needed to support all Distribution staff. This position impacts the efficiency and safety of all other areas and departments for operations. Failure to identify or perform preventative maintenance and manage janitorial tasks can become a safety hazard and can interfere with production of orders, which is essential to Customer Satisfaction. 

IV. Knowledge, Education, Skills & Abilities

High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in a relevant field preferred. Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in facility maintenance, technical support, or a related field, preferably in a distribution center or similar industrial environment. Skills:
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical & mechanical systems, plumbing, and general facility maintenance.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
• Strong time management and organizational skills
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Highly detail oriented/attention to detail
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Certified to operate Powered Industrial Trucks (i.e. forklift, scissor lift, etc). Physical Requirements:
• Ability to perform maintenance tasks, including lifting heavy objects, climbing ladders, and working in various environmental conditions.
• Capability to work in various warehouse conditions, including exposure to noise, dust,  and varying temperatures. Work Hours:
• Typically, 40 hours per week, with potential for overtime and weekend work as needed. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
