Position: Facility Maintenance Tech II (A-SHIFT)
Hours: 40 hrs/52 wks - 8:00am - 5:00 pm
Salary Range: $43,430 -$59,280
Salary Grade: 8
Summary of Responsibilities:
Facilities Maintenance Tech-II is responsible for performing maintenance operations, construction and repair activities to agency leased and owned facilities; establishes work schedules and prioritizes activities and ensures that work is completed as directed; performs skilled and semi-skilled maintenance activities and perform related work as required.
Qualifications/Education and Experience:
+ High School Diploma or equivalent required. Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities to do the following types of semi-skilled to skilled work: minor electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and renovation. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
+ 4-5 years of maintenance experience are required.
+ Responsible for having and maintaining tools necessary to perform work. (I.e. drill and necessary hand tools etc.)
+ Provide leadership to Facility Maintenance Tech I’s and Custodians I and II as assigned to coordinate completion of work orders or daily tasks. In addition, follow up to ensure work was completed in a quality manner.
+ Diagnose, maintain and perform skilled repairs to electrical system and equipment; replace ballasts, fixtures; install and repair electrical wiring and lighting circuits in connection with the repair or alteration of buildings and facilities; troubleshoot and diagnose electrical malfunctions making appropriate repairs, or referring to the Fac. Ops. Man..
+ Perform rough in, top out, and finish plumbing to replace broken pipes; clear plugged drains; perform routine maintenance on valves, fittings, and other fixtures; assist in the installation of new plumbing fixtures.
+ Repair/install/re-key locks; install/repair doors and door hardware; repair/replace windows; install shelving.
+ Perform skilled repairs to interior and exterior building surfaces, including ceilings and walls, flooring and roofing.
+ Prepare surfaces for painting; apply paint, varnish, shellac, enamel, or other protective finishes to various surfaces.
+ Provide instruction/ guidance to others in the performance of maintenance/repair tasks.
+ Experience with low-pressure boilers, heating, air conditioning and related equipment beneficial.
+ Valid NYS Driver License and a satisfactory driving record
+ Proof of COVID-19 Vaccinations is a condition of employment.
