We are seeking an energetic, skilled​ Facilities Maintenance Technician for our Penn Yan, NY location. This opportunity will require flexibility to work weekends and overtime.
Main Function:This role is responsible for receiving, selecting, storage and loading of all products and/or materials while safely operating all material handling equipment.
Schedule : Monday-Friday | 7:00 AM-3:00 PM
Starting Pay: $19.00/Hr.
ResponsibilitiesNature of the Work:
Employee performs manual work necessary to maintain cleanliness, orderliness, appearance and sanitation of KanPak grounds, roads, walks, and buildings. Work is performed within established procedures under both written and verbal instructions. Some decision making about details of work is exercised.
Work is performed with considerable independence under the direction of the Engineering Manager, subject to review through reports and results achieved.
Primary Objectives:
Coordinate GSF Quality activities and operations to meet objectives for quality, food safety, regulatory compliances, cost, safety and customer satisfaction at KanPak. Participate in formulating and administering division’s short and long range goals and objectives for business growthPerform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled work in the maintenance and repair of KanPak buildings and grounds, including roofs, siding, and walls.Safe work practices.Occupational hazards and safety precautions of the building maintenance trades.Standard tools, methods, practices, and materials involved in the building trades.Operates hand tools, power tools, small equipment.Perform minor electrical maintenance to include replacement or repair of fixtures (e.g. wall switches and outlets, incandescent and fluorescent bulbs and tubes, ballast, sockets, fuses, minor appliances, cords, etc.) using appropriate hand, power and specialty tools.Perform minor plumbing maintenance (e.g. replacement or repair of leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging of drains, trenching and laying new lines, etc).Performs snow removal and salting of facilities and access ways.Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.Filter changes on Heating and A/C units. Clean exhaust fans.Inspect emergency lights, fire extinguishers, hand washing stations, and emergency eye wash and shower stations.Repair and patch flooring as needed.Painting as needed inside and outside of the facility.Performs other work related duties as assigned.Must be able to work flexible hours.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Have a working knowledge of Contracting tools, including power tools, such as saws, drills, grinders. Hand tools including hammers, screwdrivers, pliers, etc.Have a thorough knowledge of the operation of Forklifts, Scissor lifts, Boom lifts, Mowers and Loaders.Have a thorough knowledge of operating a plow on a pickup truck for snow removal.Must be self-motivated.Honesty/Integrity.Must be Reliable.Must have Accountability.Must show pride, enthusiasm, and initiative in work.Serve as a team member.Maintain confidentiality of highly sensitive information.Estimate time and materials needed to perform maintenance, construction, and repair jobs.Follow written and oral instructions.Ability to learn new skills and techniques.Ability to work with minimal supervision.Physical Requirement’s:
Have the ability to climb and descend multiple ladder rungs and stairs.Have the ability to lift 50 poundsHave the ability to detect and differentiate colors, sounds, and smells.Have the ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and stand as job may require. QualificationsQualifications Required of this Position:
High School GraduateSix months to one year in food industry experience preferredPreferred minimal 1 year experience in Building and Grounds Maintenance.
