Job Summary:
AeroFarms is seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety and Security ambassador to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of our personnel, visitors, and facilities. This position needs an individual with great attention to detail. Strong moral compass and good reporting skills. Individual who is eager to learn and willing to learn. Take charge attitude and ability to do what's correct for safety/security.
Safety Responsibilities:
• Foster a "safety first" culture in the work environment.
• Maintain policy and procedure documentation and monitor for effectiveness.
• Perform daily Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) audits, including risk assessments.
• Conduct safety orientation and routine EHS training.
• Carry out root cause accident/injury investigations, coordinate proper response and risk assessments.
• Develop programs to encourage team member safety awareness and compliance.
• Arrange annual tests and monthly random drug tests.
• Actively participate and help lead Safety Committee discussions.
• Suggest and champion hazard abatement strategies.
• Perform other related projects as required.
• Verify job tasks to hold personnel accountable, particularly overseeing janitorial responsibilities.
• Create, edit, and review SOPs, trended data, graphs, and reports to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
• Build partnerships with other departments through collaboration to enhance overall safety and security measures.
Security Responsibilities:
• Protect personnel, visitors, contractors, customers, buildings, and grounds.
• Regularly patrol premises to maintain order and establish a presence.
• Monitor Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) network system and review video as necessary.
• Monitor and respond to alarms involving AeroFarms. • Authorize entrance of vehicles or people on the property. • Investigate suspicious activity or possessions and take appropriate actions.
• Respond to alarms, aiding and detaining perpetrators according to legal protocol.
• Submit reports of daily surveillance activity and important occurrences.
• Initiate response/notification procedures during emergency situations.
• Organize, update, and maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Conduct audits for eye wash stations, showers, exit signs, and first aid cabinets to guarantee functionality and readiness.
• Schedule and participate in mock evacuations to better prepare the team for actual emergency events.
Qualifications:
• High School diploma at minimum, with at least three years of experience in Occupational Safety &/or Security.
• Working exposure to Production, Warehouse, and Maintenance operations.
• Risk Assessments, Chemical compliance, PPE (PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT), Machine Safeguarding, LOTO (LOCKOUT TAGOUT), Waste Management, Spill Response.
• Availability to work weekends is a must.
• Ability to respect and maintain confidential information.
• Ability to lead, motivate, and communicate EHS best practices with all levels of the workforce.
• Ability to learn and comprehend the safe operation and environmental impacts of equipment and processes.
• Desire to expand knowledge of successful safety and environmental programs.
• Ability to think clearly and respond in an emergency.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, high performer, with time management skills.
• Computer skills; database systems, Internet, presentation software, Microsoft Office (Excel, WORD, etc.).
• CPR and First Aid certified.
Internal candidates seeking promotion must have completed a minimum of six months in their current role before becoming eligible for consideration. Additionally, they should have no more than 5 points and no corrective actions in the last 6 months.
In accordance with organizational protocol, employees will at times be required to fill absences in the operation process that are equal to or lower than their positional hierarchy. Additionally, if an employee is absent, the role of the absent employee is to be completed by their immediate superior.
