Bute Island Foods has been producing dairy-free products for over 30 years and became part of Saputo Dairy UK in 2021.

SDUK's brands include the Nation’s favourite cheese brand Cathedral City plus other well-known butter & spreads (Clover, Country Life, Vitalite, Utterly Butterly), functional ingredients and dairy free products.

Bute Island Foods is seeking a Factory Manager to become part of the Site Leadership Team (SLT), located on the picturesque Isle of Bute.

Among our loved products are Sheese, Cathedral City plant-based cheeses and spreads available in various flavours, featuring our latest addition, the smoked variety; plus a variety of dairy-free products on behalf of some leading supermarkets.

This facility is the largest dairy-free production site in the UK, and manages the entire production process, from raw materials to packaging, and features an innovative new product development (NPD) team on-site.

The Factory Manager will collaborate with approximately 120 colleagues across our three sites on the Isle of Bute on a full-time basis. The role entails developing and implementing business and continuous improvement strategies, with a focus on fostering a culture, coaching and mentoring teams, and improving process efficiencies.

With the ongoing evolution of the operations on site, the role remit will cover manufacturing, engineering and health & safety, while promoting food safety, product quality, and customer service.

A relocation package will be considered for the right person.

Collaborating with the Senior Leadership Team to develop and implement the site manufacturing strategy.Acting as a role model and drive continuous improvement.Developing and maintaining suitable lean manufacturing tools that drive proactive and corrective actions.Ensuring plant, equipment, buildings and facilities are maintained to a high standard through the evolution of PPMs and use of root cause analysis to drive OEE improvements.Maintaining and developing systems to ensure compliance with health & safety standards, fostering a culture of dynamic risk assessment and management.Ensuring compliance with food safety and quality standards, promoting a culture of quality improvement through engaged team members.Leading the development of team members through personal passion, coaching and mentoring to enhance productivity through standard setting, training, communication, and strong leadership.

YOU’RE BEST SUITED FOR THE ROLE IF YOU…

Have a relevant manufacturing/engineering education.Are experienced at a senior level leading production, manufacturing or engineering teams within an evolving environment.Can develop a vision and implement this through leading and mentoring teams.Have led cross-functional improvement projects and are a Master Black Belt in Six Sigma or an equivalent qualification.
