Factory Support - Fargo, ND
The primary role of a systems administrator is to set up, configure, and maintain an organization's local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and Internet systems, or parts of these networks. They are responsible for ensuring that the network is available to all users and performing necessary maintenance to keep it running smoothly. Job Responsibilities: + Manage and maintain computer networks and related environments, including hardware, network devices, mobile devices, system software, application software, and configurations. + Conduct disaster recovery operations. + Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve issues with hardware, software, or other network and system problems, and replace defective components when needed. Skills: + Strong verbal and written communication skills. + Problem-solving abilities. + Customer service skills. + Organizational management to prioritize multiple project tasks and manage time effectively. + Basic ability to identify, interpret, and evaluate system and network requirements. + Knowledge of computer hardware and software related to LAN/WAN and desktop PCs. Additional Responsibilities: + Provide support for PC and mobile hardware and software at the Fargo facilities, including corporate IT assets. + Support PC operating system and security patch updates for factory floor devices. + Diagnose hardware failures or vulnerabilities and coordinate repairs with third-party vendors. + Basic understanding of network infrastructure, including switches, routers, and cabling. + Install network and server equipment under the guidance of Caterpillar’s infrastructure team. + Assist with application/software-related issues and coordinate with software providers for resolution. + Conduct root cause analysis on issues affecting factory floor computers or site-specific client/server solutions and recommend improvements. + Support Caterpillar-developed applications, including initial troubleshooting. + Assist with ERP and other site-specific account administration. + Assist with non-standard account administration in Active Directory. + Participate in other factory IT projects and initiatives as needed. Collaboration: + Attend discussions with local business partners, corporate IT, and on-site IT team members to provide status updates and determine next steps. + Install site-specific software on desktops and coordinate the deployment of assets to factory floor work centers. + Troubleshoot network infrastructure or desktop assets at the local facility. + Work on IT projects related to LAN/WAN, desktop, or audio/video improvements. + Collaborate with production supervisors or office workers to resolve client/server technical issues. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
