Exercise Physiology Chair
The Chair of the Department of Exercise Physiology, with programs in Exercise Science (bachelor’s) and Clinical Exercise Physiology (master’s) plans, implements, and directs the academic and fieldwork components of the undergraduate exercise science and graduate clinical exercise physiology programs and ensures compliance with all accreditation elements. Responsibilities include: Developing a vision for the professional education program; curriculum development, review, and revision and program and curricular assessment; faculty professional development; human resource management of faculty and staff; communication and collaboration with the institution (marketing, admissions, public affairs, academic affairs); policy development, review, and revision; resource management; negotiation for resources and strategic planning. This position has a minimum release time of 4 credits, with additional release time based on the School of Health Sciences Administration Workload Guidelines.
All faculty are expected to demonstrate a willingness to support and advance the Christian, Catholic, and Benedictine mission and identity of the University of Mary (see https://www.umary.edu/about/mission-identity ).
Qualifications and Requirements Include:
+ Required: Minimum of Master of Arts or Master of Science degree in Exercise Physiology; terminal degree preferred
+ Currently holds, or is eligible for, the rank of associate or professor
+ Has a minimum of 3 years of documented experience in the field of exercise physiology with a minimum of 3 years full-time academic appointment with teaching responsibilities at the college level
+ Upholds and supports the Christian, Catholic, Benedictine mission of the University of Mary
+ Supports the ongoing implementation of Ex Corde Ecclesiae, the apostolic constitution on Catholic colleges and universities
+ Builds a culture of ready and earnest hospitality in the St. Gianna School of Health Sciences and throughout the university, in accord with Saint Benedict’s admonition that all be received as Christ
Knowledge and skills required:
+ Teaching and research qualifications comparable to those of senior full-time faculty members of the institution
+ Experience in the management of human and fiscal resources
+ Commitment to lifelong learning
+ Knowledge and experience with Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs processes
+ Knowledge and experience with curricular planning and assessment
+ Organizational and team leadership
