The School of Healthcare Business and Technology seeks an innovative and entrepreneurial faculty candidate to be the inaugural Director for Data Science and Analytics. This position is a full-time faculty appointment with teaching responsibilities in data science, data analytics, program oversight, and leadership. It also carries an administrative appointment that includes the stewardship of data science programming at MCPHS and leading data science collaborations across schools.

 

The Director for Data Science and Analytics will report to the Dean of the School of Healthcare Business and Technology and assume an active role in building the school and university's image within data science and the life sciences industry. The incumbent will also collaborate with the Dean and MCPHS colleagues focused on external and industry relationships to nurture connections, increase experiential opportunities, and steward program development that reflects industry needs. This position is located primarily on the Boston, MA, campus but does require inter-campus travel and allows for flexibility in scheduling. Rank and salary will be commensurate with education and experience.


• Supports incorporation of diversity, equity and inclusion into the curriculum, as well as co-curricular experiences, to broaden the education of students and expand their knowledge of health disparities.
• Supports connections with alumni, employers, researchers, life sciences leaders and organizations, and other professional groups to build connections and experiential opportunities for the School and the University.
• Execute a strategy to establish MCPHS in data science and support connections with life sciences and other industry partners in collaboration with senior administration.
• Inspire and provide direction for curricular and program development of data science courses and programs.
• Provide direction for data set acquisition, analytic tools, and software appropriate for data science and analytics.
• Develop and promote engaging assignments demonstrating the real-world applications of data science concepts in the classroom and/or online environment.
• Represent the programs, school, and University at community functions, events, and professional conferences.
• Drive opportunities to showcase innovative and entrepreneurial students, projects, and research.
• Build inter-professional and collaborative educational opportunities within the University and among our external stakeholders, showcasing technology in healthcare.
• Hire, manage, and correspond with adjunct faculty in related disciplines.
• Develop, implement, and oversee appropriate assessment of data science and related courses, content, and student outcomes.
• Support the incorporation of diversity, equity, and inclusion into the curriculum, as well as co-curricular experiences, to broaden the education of students and expand their knowledge of health disparities.
• Participate in service/volunteer activities and University and school committees as assigned; serve on regional, state, or national organization committees.
• Engage in scholarship resulting in conference presentations, publishable manuscripts, peer-reviewed instructional materials, or other outcomes consistent with expectations for scholarly activities described in the Faculty Manual.
• Mentor, advise, and assist students through office hours or scheduled appointments, phone or email, and other University-approved mechanisms.
• Attend and participate in School and Department meetings, University ceremonies, and other significant events, including commencement, retreats, and other on-campus meetings
• Contribute to periodic reviews and revisions of departmental course and programmatic offerings.
• Maintain advanced knowledge in discipline and areas of expertise.
• Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor.
