Practice Details:
The Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Minnesota is seeking a full-time (1.0 FTE with 0.8 clinical time), board-certified orthopedic surgeon with fellowship training in Hand Surgery and sub-specialization in pediatric hand surgery to be hired at the rank of Associate or Full Professor on the clinician track.
This surgeon will work at Gillette Children’s Hospital, Shriner’s Children’s and at MHealth.
These health systems bring multiple specialists together to blend the best in conservative and surgical treatment for complex pediatric hand. These include: General and Subspecialty Orthopedic Surgeons, Podiatrists, Pain Management Providers, Neurosurgeons, Medical Spine (PM&R), Athletic Trainers, and Physical, Occupational and Hand Therapists.
This position is part of a team of 87 physicians within the University of Minnesota Department of Orthopedic Surgery.
Opportunity may exist to work with hand fellows, plastics or orthopedic residents and/or medical students.
Responsibilities:
Patient care at Gillett Children’s Hospital, Shriner’s Children’s and MHealth
Employed by M Physicians, and participation in service, research, and educational activities on behalf of the department, the medical school, and the profession.
Pursuit of educational and outcome-driven goals fostered by the service line goals, system goals, and the individuals own areas of interest
Active participation in organizations and academic societies
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited ACGME Orthopedic Surgery residency and hand fellowship-training program with demonstrated interest in pediatric hand and upper extremity sub specialization.
Reliable clinician with sound judgement and technical expertise
Understands and places importance on patient care/service
Detail oriented and self-motivated with excellent written and verbal communication skills
Education-focused and a creative problem-solver
Exceptional collaboration abilities with partners and staff
Board certified
Licensed or ability to obtain Minnesota Board of Medical Practice Licensure
Ability to obtain/maintain DEA certification in the State of Minnesota
Meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges
Ability to receive work authorization in the United States from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and maintain legal status according to the requirements of VISA category while in the United States.

Pay and Benefits:
This role is dually employed by University of Minnesota Physicians and the University of Minnesota. Total salary is market competitive and based on AAMC salary benchmarks. Clinical salary, aligned with clinical effort, is provided through M Physicians. The base salary range for this position is $450,000 – $650,000 commensurate with experience, qualifications, and cFTE. The salary from the University is dependent upon the academic effort of the person hired.
