Faculty Professor Assistant - Full-Time

The University of Pittsburgh Department of Neurological Surgery is recruiting an Assistant Professor, Tenure stream.

The selected candidate will join our nationally recognized team of clinical professionals as a Neurosurgeon specializing in Neurotrauma and Complex Spinal Surgery.

Specifically, the candidate will provide and oversee the surgical and medical care of Neurological Surgery and Trauma Services patients across the continuum of care including inpatient, ambulatory, telehealth, and clinic (office-based) access points. This position will function as adjunct faculty of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, providing didactic, clinical, and research instruction and oversight to Department of Neurological Surgery Residents and Fellows, providing sound clinical oversight and ensuring appropriate clinical decision-making for Department of Neurological Surgery Residents and Fellows during assigned clinical sections and on-call periods. This position facilitates and participates in organized clinical discussions, journal submissions, and professional conferences. Participation in program development and recruitments and retention efforts for future Fellows, Residents, and Faculty peers is required.

This academic appointment will be at the Assistant Professor, Tenure track level and is commensurate with prior academic achievements and experience. Salary is competitive and commensurate with training and experience. General rank requirements: Applicants for Assistant Professor, tenure-stream, should have three or more years of experience in related scientific research; have obtained or demonstrate the ability to obtain external research funding; have disseminated results through peer-reviewed publications and other scientific forums; have significant teaching experience; and demonstrate the capacity for sustained career development, promotion, and tenure.

Minimum education and requirements to be considered:

M.D - Board eligible or certified in Internal Medicine and board certified or eligible in Neurological Surgery and/or NSGY subspecialty

Success in authoring papers published in refereed journals

Possess exceptional clinical knowledge and clinical acumen

Demonstrated commitment to teaching and research in an academic clinical setting
