Faculty Research Assistant-FRA (Hill Lab)
The University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science UMCES at The Institute of Marine and Environmental Technology IMET seeks a Faculty Research Assistant FRA who has a PhD in microbiology or marine biology and experience working with microalgae and bacteria Expertise in growing microalgae assessing algal biomass and analyzing bacterial communities by 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis is preferred Experience in applying molecular biology approaches such as genomics transcriptomics and proteomics would be an advantage An MS level experienced technician with appropriate expertise will also be considered for this position The position is in the laboratory of Dr Russell Hill and includes collaboration with other researchersThe FRA will work in a research project funded by the US Department of Energy Non US citizens will go through a rigorous clearance process which can take a few months In the case of a non US citizen hiring can only happen after the clearance process has been finalized
