The Department of History and Philosophy of Science at the University of Pittsburgh seeks a candidate for a position as a Professor specializing in History and Philosophy of Science beginning in the 2025-2026 academic year, pending budgetary approval.
Required Qualifications: (1) A PhD in History and Philosophy of Science, Philosophy, or a closely related field expected by the proposed start date; (2) a promising research agenda in History and Philosophy of Science; and (3) exhibit interest in integrating history and philosophy of science as well as in-depth knowledge of the science or sciences relevant to their research.
Responsibilities: Undergraduate and graduate teaching, and regular departmental duties.
Assistant Professors should submit a CV (including a research statement), at least three letters of recommendation, evidence of teaching excellence, and a writing sample.Associate and Full Professors should submit a CV (including a research statement), names of three letter writers, evidence of teaching excellence, and a writing sample.
In addition, applicants should provide a brief personal statement that addresses their contributions to diversity through research, teaching, service, and/or community engagement. Please mention any past contributions as well as any planned or potential contributions.
