Research Associate Professor, NT (full-time)


The University of Pittsburgh’s Department of Radiology is recruiting for a full-time, non-tenure faculty position (Research Associate Professor) to help establish an Advanced Biomedical Technology Services laboratory and support the biological evaluation and translation of radiopharmaceuticals for human use (adult and pediatric). Salary will be commensurate with experience. As a leading academic institution with a strong commitment to research and innovation, we are looking for an experienced professional to assist our research programs and contribute to cutting-edge advancements in molecular imaging.

The position will support ongoing and new research and investigational activities as part of the overall imaging research portfolio.

Job responsibilities include:

-Developing an Advanced Biomedical Technology Services laboratory to support UPMC/University of Pittsburgh preclinical and human translational programmatic needs

-Performing in vitro biochemistry assays as well as ex vivo and in vivo animal studies (imaging, dissections, autoradiography, IHC, PDX models, etc.) to help validate novel radiotracers and generate data for regulatory filings.

- Assist with novel tracer development and perform biodistribution metabolite studies

-Support the preclinical radiotracer/molecular imaging IVIF oncology-based user needs

A successful candidate should have the following qualifications:

-PhD in Radiochemistry, Biochemistry, Organic Chemistry or Molecular Biology

-Research Professor: at least eight years of experience in academic research and investigational biochemistry

-Work with biological/biochemical characterization of novel (first-in-human) PET radiotracers for translation into clinical imaging trials.

-Extensive experience in handling and performing experiments with alpha, beta, and gamma-emitting radioisotopes.

The successful applicant will be appointed to the Department of Radiology and will support research activities across the University of Pittsburgh PET Center and Hillman Cancer Center research portfolio.
