Paid Externship with a Trained Preceptor!
General Information:
The Nurse Extern II program is a collaboration between Baptist
Health Lexington (BHLex) and eligible accredited nursing
programs. The school will have oversight of the practicum hours
set up at the beginning of the semester and BHLex will have
oversight of the NE II program.
The program offers additional clinical practice experience to
qualified nursing students to enhance their preparation as
future licensed nurses.
The goal is to have a continuity of unit and preceptor for the
entire time at BHLex. Students participating in the program will
transition into a staff nursing position after obtaining a
provisional nursing license.
Eligible students are second semester seniors electing to do their 120-hour/168-hour practicum at BHLex. Following completion of the 120-hour/168-hour practicum, students will continue working with a preceptor for approximately two 12-hour shifts per week for a total of 120/168 hours through the remainder of the fall semester.
