About Pacific Labour Mobility Support Program
The Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme is a signature initiative for the Australian Government that enables workers from 9 Pacific Island Countries (PICs) and Timor- Leste to work in priority sectors in Australia. The Pacific Labour Mobility Support Program’s (PLMSP) role is to provide the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and governments in 9 PICs and Timor-Leste with support to enable workers to access PALM scheme in inclusive ways that maximise the benefits for the workers and national economies while minimising risks from labour mobility participation. Palladium is contracted to deliver PLMSP on behalf of DFAT.
This Opportunity
The Family Accompaniment (FA) Manager will be responsible for managing and overseeing the family support function, leading a team, and ensuring that support systems and processes for the project are managed in line with corporate and DFAT head contract requirements.
This is a fixed term opportunity required till September 2028 with possibility of extension.
The Family Accompaniment Manager will be responsible for:
Supervise Family Liaison Officers (FLOs) and manage related processes for effective oversight. Develop and refine family support frameworks, tools, and processes in line with PALM scheme requirements. Identify and coordinate training and skill development needs for FLOs and other stakeholders. Collaborate with Family Accompaniment Coordinators for pre-departure, ongoing support, and reintegration planning. Work with DFAT and LSUs to establish reintegration arrangements for participating families. Provide updates to the FA Steering Committee and respond to emerging risks or opportunities. Engage with key stakeholders on family welfare support issues and facilitate communication with Approved Employers (AEs), DFAT, and DEWR. Ensure timely data collection and sharing with relevant parties, and act as the primary escalation point for serious incidents involving family members.We are seeking an individual who:
Tertiary qualifications in social work, human services, social/behavioural sciences, community services, or a related discipline. Minimum 5 years of case management experience, with a background in migrant settlement or family support programs being advantageous. Strong knowledge of case management frameworks and critical incident management. Experience working with Pacific and Timorese communities. Relevant qualifications and/or 5-10 years of experience in employment services or migrant settlement services. Strong practice and professional judgment framework, including risk assessment and intervention planning skills. Knowledge of labour mobility in Australia and related worker welfare challenges. Excellent relationship management and negotiation skills, with the ability to lead a distributed team.We are committed to building a diverse, geographically dispersed workforce to maximize our support.
