The Family & Community Resource Center Coordinator is responsible for executing the mission and vision of the Family & Community Resource Center (FCRC) and recognizes families play a critical role in helping children be ready for school and for a lifetime of academic success. As a result, the FCRC Coordinator promotes a partnership with the community and parents and strives to enhance Atlantis Charter School programs through central coordination of community and family outreach and collaboration. The FCRC Coordinator builds a solid foundation for parent and family engagement and focuses programming on achieving a set of desired family outcomes. To ensure our families can participate in our school community, our FCRC provides interpreting services for our families in both Spanish and Portuguese. Interpreting services is an essential function of the FRCR in supporting our current and prospective families. The FCRC Coordinator is committed to the Atlantis Charter School Board of Trustee’s policies regarding equity, human rights and cross cultural understanding and reports directly to the K-12 District Leader.

QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Bachelor’ Degree required, in related field preferred
+ Master’s degree in human services, sociology, psychology, vocational education, or related field preferred
+ Ability to read, write and speak proficiently in Portuguese or Spanish required
+ 3-4 years prior experience in planning and implementing educational, enrichment, health, volunteer, and community involvement activities.
+ Demonstrated organizational and staff supervision skills.
+ Demonstrated record of excellent public relations skills.
+ Ability to work effectively with community groups and individuals.
+ Ability to work effectively with staff, students, families, and community organizations
+ Ability to develop a strategic plan and implement the start-up of a new program
+ Ability to assess the work potential of volunteers and other workers.
+ Strong communication skills, both written and spoken.
REPORTS TO: K-12 District Leader
SUPERVISION: FCRC staff and volunteers
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
While actual roles and responsibilities will vary depending on individual circumstances, the Family & Community Resource Center Coordinator will generally be required to perform some or all of the following tasks. Note that this list is not all-inclusive and that the K-12 District Leader may also assign other tasks they deem appropriate.
+ Plan, develop, and execute family engagement activities grounded in positive, equitable, and inclusive practices that promote parents as true partners in their child’s education, healthy family relationships, and the family and school working collaboratively to maximize student success.
+ Collaborate with community, health, mental health, social service, and school partners to build peer networks, link families and children to needed services, and support successful transitions for children and families.
+ Provides oral and written interpreting and translation services in the district; to include family meetings, parent-teacher conferences, IEP meetings, school events, including District and FCRC sponsored activities, and any written documents disseminated from the school. Interpreting services and translation is also performed in informal and spontaneous interactions.
+ Ensures that language is interpreted accurately and the information conveys the intended meaning by ensuring the original message maintains the original tone and context.
+ Ensures FCRC department is flexible and accommodating for interpreting and translation needs.
+ Work collaboratively with the Lower School (K-6) & Upper School (7-12) counseling department to ensure that student and family needs are being met, which may include academic, health, social-emotional, and basic needs. Work collaboratively with the counseling team around the school’s Holiday Drive to ensure successful outcome of fundraiser.
+ Attend and supervise evening and weekend planned family events
+ Attend regular meetings with K-12 District Leader to report on FCRC progress.
+ Attend meetings with district level administration as needed to discuss FCRC initiatives or FCRC involvement in any district operations.
+ Facilitate regular district-wide Parent Group meetings that promote information sharing and education around student and family needs .
+ Plan and execute parent involvement workshops, trainings and surveys to strengthen parent-student engagement and support within the district.
+ Support the Special Education Director and ELL Director in planning and implementing regular Special Education Parent Advisory Council and English Language Parent Advisory Council meetings.
+ Coordinate and implement school fundraisers that support teacher and student needs and are aligned with the school’s designated priorities and vision.
+ Solicit feedback from the community, parents and families to be incorporated in program development and assessment of program success.
+ Conduct professional development at the start of the school year for staff identifying the role of FCRC within the school community. Conduct staff professional development as needed to enhance student and family engagement and success.
+ Provide opportunities for family support and development through family partnerships and family peer groups.
+ Engage families as equal partners in children’s learning and development by building strong relationships in support of information sharing about children’s progress.
+ Coordinate efforts to encourage community members and parents as volunteers.
+ Work collaboratively with staff, teachers, K-12 District Leader and Principals in supporting desired family engagement outcomes.
+ Act as liaison with local, state, and national entities engaged in family engagement/family resource work.
+ Disseminate and research best practices of family involvement practices to/from other schools and state and national family learning/resource centers at workshops, seminars, and conventions.
+ Oversee, supervise, and evaluate FCRC staff and volunteers as needed.
+ Oversee and manage the annual budget for the FCRC, including the Hardship Fund.
+ Participate in school and community committees as appropriate.
+ Represent Atlantis Charter School by attending and participating in local and state events related to family involvement and Charter Public School issues.
+ Assist in maintaining high morale of Atlantis Staff, students and parents through the coordination of activities for each of these groups.

EVALUATION
Evaluation of the Family and Community Resource Center Coordinator will be conducted by the K-12 District Leader.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Follows 10 month schedule with additional 10 days during summer and breaks as required. Must be flexible with days worked during the summer.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Ability to walk, sit and stand for long periods. Regularly uses computer keyboard, requiring eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity. Will need to travel between school buildings. Will need to attend weekend and evening events as needed. May need to make home visits as required.
