Family Counsellor
Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Manager in Community Addiction and Mental Health Clinic (CAMHC)-Central Clinic and the Emerging Adult Service, this advanced Mental Health Therapist position serves Young Adults 18-29 and their families who present with complex and co-occurring mental health disorders and associated cognitive, behavioral and emotional issues. The 1 year temporary full-time position provides Family Therapy and clinical support for individuals and groups as well as consultation and capacity-building for staff. The position demands both clinical and systems expertise and excellent knowledge of change-management. As a member of a team and within the context of family-centered care, Mental Health Clinician facilitates the integration of Emerging Adult Services to provide optimal client service and support the Adult Mental Health system to better meet the needs of this population. The candidate must have training and experience providing Family Therapy to Adolescents and Emerging Adults and their families (RMFT of CACFT trained or registered). This position will also work in coordination with a Project Manager, Research team, Emerging Adults and community-based partners to implement prioritized innovative solutions to improve access to and outcomes from services. This position will be responsible for delivering training and capacity building support to clinical staff. This will include facilitating training sessions, working groups and various consensus building methodologies. The position is mobile and flexible to meet the needs of multiple clinical areas and the scope of the project. Some evening and weekend work is expected within the context of a rotation. The position is assigned to the CAMHC – Central Clinic and Emerging Adult Service but may be assigned to another service according to client and operational needs.

Description:

As a Family Counsellor, you will provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up to clients and their families. You will also provide clinical focused consultation with other programs or community resources and acts as a liaison to develop and promote preventative health programs in the community. You will collaborate with other health care providers and community service providers to ensure a continuum of care in the community.

Completion of master's degree in a health related field. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Supervised training and 3-5 years experience in Mental Health Assessment and Treatment with the Adolescent and/or Emerging Adult population. Authorized to perform Psychosocial Intervention required. Structured, accredited training and experience providing Family Therapy to Adolescents and Emerging Adults and their families required. Advanced DBT Treatment Skills required. Experience delivering Interpersonal Therapy Groups required. Trauma informed training and experience required. Advanced knowledge of DSM V required. Experience providing capacity building training and appropriate change-management skills required. Knowledge of community resources required. Experience delivering single-session and/or brief therapy modalities is required. Clinical skills in assessment, intervention, and system navigation and case management required. Demonstrated commitment to Family and Client Centered Care required. Excellent communication, flexibility, problem-solving and organizational skills required. Preferred Qualifications:

Trauma intensive training preferred. Level 1&2 training in Collaborative Problem Solving preferred. RMFT trained preferred. CACFT trained preferred. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with community partners preferred. Experience working in patient engagement and program development preferred. Brain Story Certified preferred. Ability to work independently and meet necessary deadlines. Ability to be flexible and manage change. Experience in program planning, evaluation and research preferred.
